Hi Carla, I have my apt. with the surgeon tomorrow. I have stones, it took 3

weeks to get the surgical consult. I have had 8 attacks in 2 weeks. I am

physically and emotionally worn out. I cannot wait to get rid of this

gallbladder. I only pray it is done lap. I hope that all goes well with you,

let us know. Overman

Hi Sherry, Tomorrow is just to set up the surgery date. I will take any of

their docs at this point. I want to get to the picnic feeling human. As it

stands I haven't sent the money in till I know I can eat. As it stands

watermelon and crab are all I can handle, not complaining, they are my two

favorites. Hope to see you and all the friends at the picnic, Overman

Thank You all too. I would be locked away, in an

Insane Asylum if not for all of you. I know at times

I have been a real bother. Thank you Doc for

everything. Thank you Claudine for helping me. And,

Thank you all

for not telling me to shut up :-))

Claudine,

You deserve the thanks. You've spent so much time forwarding information to

us. Thanks a lot.

I was diagnosed around '95. Didn't have a computer at that time, either. You

know what it was like going to the library and looking at books with a 1989

printing date. Not much information. The internet has been wonderful.

Doctor at the Veterans Medical Center initially gave me enough interferon for

three shots way back then. Had been telling me prior to liver biopsy and all

initial blood tests that the main reason people were taken off treatment was

they got too depressed. So I got my family fired up for weeks in preparation

and was sure I wouldn't get depressed and therefore there would be no reason

to stop treatment. Well, after the first three shots, the doctor comes into

the examination room and says " we're taking you off treatment. White blood

count dropped too much. " I wasn't expecting that, and that's what made me

depressed. lol.

Started treatment a few years later at three injections a week and was kept

on treatment for 9 months till I was pulled because of low white blood count

and low platelet level.

Now hoping I get started on Ribavirin and pegalated when I go back on 12/10.

Most of the reports I've read talk about patients who haven't been previously

treated. Doctor is thinking my white blood count will drop again and that I

won't be able to stay on treatment, but I remind him that the interferon

could be staving off HCC.

Didn't mean to go into this, but I wanted to say thanks for all your time and

that I always read the articles, and thought you might like to know something

a bit more personal about some of the people you're helping.

Your friend,

Gene

Happy Thanksgiving to you too Claudine. I didn't know you didn't have

any support group during treatment...what a ruff time that must have

been, not knowing if what you were going through was typical or

not...not having anyone to confide in. Maybe that's why you are so

involved with HCV and find all the interesting articles for

us....without your help I wouldn't know nearly what I know now. I've

saved most of your emails in a special folder. Thank YOU Claudine,

for being you.

Dear Claudine,

Happy belated Thanksgiving to all. We had a lovely one and had something

extra to be thankful for: my dear friend, who came with her son and

his significant other to visit. Her son popped the question to Becky and we

did a round of wonderful " engagement " parties in addition to celebrating

Thanksgiving.

Claudine, I can sympathize. Since I was in medicine, I did know what HCV was

when I was diagnosed in 1993, but there was no treatment available that was

FDA approved. Upon learning the diagnosis, my insurance monthly premium went

from $423.58 to over $900.00. insisted we get married. I kept

refusing for two years because I didn't want him to have to go through this

mess with me. He refused to take no for an answer, which is why he and the

Navy takes care of me. I am truly blessed with him, fine doctors, and all of

you. But I still think he shouldn't have married me.

Beyond that, I had noone either.....including my Mother, but that is another

story. My friends were wonderful and supportive, but nobody " got the

picture. " And it's a hard one to paint for folks who haven't " been there,

done that, and worn the tee shirt. "

All of us here owe you a debt of gratitude. You are an excellent researcher.

I am convinced that you must live in front of your computer. We pray for

you daily in this house.

Hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed day.

LOL,

Anne

> Thanks to all who came to the PNW soup night! I really appreciate

your support.

Jessie & - Thanks so much for having us all at your beautiful

home. It was so good to see everyone and the changes in some was

amazing. We continue to decrease as our numbers increase. If we

aren't all an endoresement for the band I don't know what is. The

new Drs. seemed really nice and will now have a very good idea of

what the band can do for a person's life.

Again, thanks for having us all invade your home - it was a wonderful

gathering of fantastic people.

Thanks to all for all the well wishes for .

He is doing just fine, in fact, a little TOO fine, if you know what I mean...he

is driving us nuts. I think he is just not used to being with Mom and Dad this

much after being away and on his own.

We got him a replacement vehicle on Friday (another blessing) after finding out

that the insurance company was going to be more generous than we had thought. So

he is back to having his freedom, and hopefully, will be more cautious in

freezing temperatures when there is black ice.

We go to Cincinnati on Wednesday to see Dr Passo for his 6 month follow up.

He goes to the chest surgeon on Thursday for a recheck. He goes back to college

on Friday; classes are resuming on Monday January 7. Friday he will settle back

in and get his books purchased, etc.

I wish everyone many blessings in the new year!

Glad to hear he is doing well. Yes, it can be trying when they are used

to more freedom than we are! LOL How nice that you are able to replace

the car. Hope the check ups go well, Michele ( 20, spondy)
