Guest guest
Hello: I am new to the list and have a daughter Anabelle with JIA/Uveitis. I also happen to be a dentist. Typically medication will not affect the tooth structure and your problems may be primarily due to recurrent or new decay if your teeth are breaking. (or tooth grinding at night?) I would expect more problems stemming from the mouth in patients with autoimmune diseases in the form of gingivitis/periodontitis as they both stem from inflammatory processes. For this reason it is imperative that routine dental care is followed! New studies show that autoimmune diseases such as RA/JRA parallel or can be directly affected/worsened by inflammation in other areas of the body such as periodontal (gum) disease. Therefore, routine dental care seems increasingly more important..... Good luck with your January appointment!
