Stacey,

It is certainly possible for there to be arthritic pain in the hand, or other

areas without visible swelling.

Often my son's rheumy would find areas of inflammation, or active arthritis in

areas where there was no

swelling.? This is done on examination?with?the doc knowing what he or she is

looking for as they manipulate

the joint.? It may be nothing, but if your son has only had the one knee

affected with no other areas, you

may want to contact the rheumy and discuss this possible new developement.? Good

luck!

JRA problem expands

?

>My son is 2 he was diagnosed with JRA a few months ago after

extensive testing to rule out other possiblities. His left knee has

been swollen since May. He has recently started to complain about

pain in his right hand also. Altough I do not see swelling in the

hand. Has anyone been through this? Does it sound like it could be

the JRA in anouther area?

We paid the Dr a visit Monday she said it didn't feel like it was being

affected. I hope it stays that way I have had to kiss the spot between the

pointer and thumb a lot lately???

Thanks for the reply!

We had a similar experience w/ Isabelle. She had a pain in her

finger and I took her to Rheumy, but turned out to be unrelated to

her JRA. Thay was around a year ago and no hand pain since.
