Guest guest
Raquel, Next time your at Walmart get one of the Scooters and allow her to use this. got to where she didn't want to go shopping and would rather stayed at home. When Walmart started with the Scooters in the store. I broke her from this. She was scared at first but today if she wants to go with me she can not say I can't walk Walmart with you so I am staying home. She get's on a scooter and shops. We have a small town Walmart and the people know her now. Some days we walk together some days she rides the scooter and I walk. Ummm Here's a warning though lololol. Watch the feet lolololol. Ummm Your hips too those thing's hurt when you get hit with them lololol. Ummm My Step Dad can't walk far. My Hubby was having issues with blood clots in his legs and well the JA. I took all of them to Walmart. Ummmm Ever seen Men race on those Scooters? lololol Hubby and Step Dad did and knocked over somethings. and I walked on like we didn't know them . lololol. GROWN Men playing around. The ones at Home Depot are FASTER as I found out by carrying my Step Dad to Home Depot Ummmm He whipped up each Isle only passing me and saying boy this one is FAST lololol He is in his mid 80's ok lololol. He had fun though and didn't run into anything. You need to sit down and talk with is and explain how important it is for her to let you know her Pain levels. As Kid's who take medications like JA kid's can get Immune to one dose and will have to raise the dose for good Pain Management. Always give as it says if you let it go 15 minutes past the right time this could mean she will have to wait longer to let the pain med kick in. was bad about her system getting use to a dose. So I would have to raise it sometimes half a pill. Then remember to give her medication 15 minutes before the scheduled dose. Always eat something before taking it as well. Tummy issues can arise. I had what was called a back medication. Only to give when her pain got to 10. If after 30 minutes no relief off to the ER for help. Honestly they would give her a shot and sometimes this didn't help. But we had to double up on the medication until the pain subsided to a manageable state. Remember also that a HOT Bath may do the trick. But also a Heating pad or a Electric blanket to warm up the Joints will also help. Go to Walmart and look for a Parafin Wax machine. This also helped with her Hands, Wrists, Elbows and Feet and Ankles. AMAZING as it seems it works as well is fun for the kid's. Putting dry rice in a bowl and heating it up in the Microwave and letting her put her hands in it to play. Ummmm Better get a BIG bowl lololol. Drop beans into the rice so she has to fish it out. You can also put a Warm towel around the parts which hurt. I went and bought a Tub Spa to hang on the Tub. has had this one since she was about 12 or 13. She loves it. She will say Ma I gotta take a HOT bath I am sore before I know it I will hear that Spa come on. She allows it to reach all joints. Ummmm Want some FUN and believe me it is ALOT of fun. As did with my Niece lololol. You know how Cousins are lolol. My Niece disn't want to take a bath so she told if you get in I will. lololol. SO said well if I get in I want to use the Spa. GREAT as I think my niece wanted it that way as she is too young to use it. lololol. Well before I knew it is holering to come upstairs to the bathroom. I walk in and BUBBLES are everywhere on the tub. lololol My Niece was dressing 's hair with bubbles. Now I had to keep a Straight face as Both looked as though both were in TROUBLE. I said now how did those get in there. My Niece said that Spa did it lololol. said well the Shampoo and that Spa ma do not go together unless you want bubbles lololol. Very fun for them I smiled where could see me and walked out saying NOW y'all did that mess Y'all better clean it up. lololol They were in that tub for a hour or so playing with bubbles. lololol Rawuel, Remember to help is give her the medicine on time. Even if she says she aint' going to take them. I have put my kid's meds in their food or drink. As they got older though it was their choice. Then it was my time to say Ok told you so. lololol. If you see improvement when she is on meds make sure she takes it. RobbinSee what's new at AOL.com and Make AOL Your Homepage.
Guest guest
It is very very important to keep a pain regime in place. was given her piroxicam in the morning as soon as she woke up. Paraccetamol too and on a bad day codiene phosphate.the would have paracetamol and codiene 4 times a day regardless and this helped to stem the pain for her. divide your days into 4 blocks and force her to take meds if you have to ..... id rather my child had pain killers in her than suffer pain of any sorts. a good pain regime is one of the best ways to fight arthritis pain. and ERA and Psoriatic SW Scotland > > > Today is stayed home and on the couch all day. Guest guest
Hi Raquel, Have you made sure that it is not something totally different like appendicitis? I am wondering if it is completely unrelated to the JRA? Sometime appendicitis acts like a floating terrible pain that "drifts" from the front of the body to the back. Something else GI related perhaps? That tends to get much worse with any movement too... Just a thought. Hope she feels better and gets some relief!!! Guest guest
She has this strang pain today even with her meds. She describes it like a big bruise, all the way aroung from her stomach to her back. Right below her ribs. What is this new pain? She is really feeling better as long as she just sits around. I just don't understand what this new pain could be. I had hoped that her pain would be bad last night with-out her meds and that wasn't the case. And I feel like a heel even doing this. I'm just going to take this one day at a time. Continue with her meds and if a night comes alone with more pain then we will go off to the ER. Thanks Raquel
Guest guest
This is a good point. I don't recall what meds is takes? If she is on MTX or a strong NSAID, these could mask the usual symptoms of appendicitis. If she has any sort of temperature, I would recommend taking her to the ER. It could be appendicitis. When I took Miranda to the ER for suspected appendicitis, the ER doc told me that immunosuppressed kids (MTX) tend to mask the symptoms, so it is more important that these kids be seen right away. I hope is is feeling a little better by now. If your mom radar is still going off, by all means, err on the side of caution! Guest guest
Well is has done fine with her sleepover. Tonight she has complained a little about her back and hips hurting. She isn't taking any pain meds today. She doesn't have much soreness around her middle anymore. The only thing is she can't stand for more than a minute without something starting to ache. Also she has started having night sweets. Just checked on her and her pillow case is soaked. She is also peeing quite often and they checked it at the drs office on tuesday and it was normal. I'm starting to worry that there is something else going on rather than JRA. I'm just torn-up about everything. thanks for everyones support Raquel & is (undiagnosed) 1st rheumy appt 10-

Guest guest
Raquel, If you have not taken is to a Eye Dr for a Slit Lamp Test I would do so. experiences Dizziness sometimes. Lights do bother her as well. Flashing lights may be also a cause. I myself can not handle flashing lights. Even those Police Lights get to me. Strobbing lights is also not good. use to get dizzy alot. As her eyes are Sensitive to lights. You can also check with the Dr about Vertigo as sometimes this can be the cause.
