Guest guest
Hi there My daughter has Juvinille Idiopathic Arthritis and her form of JIA is Enthesitis Related. It was diagnosed in February. HLA B27 was the genetic marker that helped the diagnosis along.... what i understand it to mean and bear with me on this explanation please.. Wherever the tendons touch a bone is where Enthesitis attacks so it is not limited to just the man joints, movement and illness causeds these tendon endings to become inflamed and this causes pain. is 11 now and has great pain issues on a daily basis, her swellings just now is on her ribcage, collarbone, knees, jaw and ankles and on the tops of her feet. She takes daily 4x 500mg paracetamol.... 4x 30mg codiene... 20mg Piroxicam and once a week she takes 20mg of Methotrexate..... Sulphasalazine is the drug of choice for HLA B27+ arthritis but it didnt work on her, methotrexate isnt making a huge difference either. In the UK its called Enthesitis and is descriibed as pain in the enthesitic points (tendon ends) Its not called Spondy over here until adult hood and she has a 1 in 4 chance of being diagnosed with spondy as an adult but she already fits all of the descriptors for the disease... i may have gone WAYYYYYYY off track here and if i have please put it down to lack of coffee!! and teh fact that Robbin stole my sanity and sold it on ebay O.O and 11 Enthesitis Related Arthritis HLA B27 positive SW Scotland For ideas on reducing your carbon footprint visit For Good this month.
