Guest guest
I second Helen's motion. People need to be empowered. I've only been involved with the AF since 2002, but have noted the costs and manpower needed to put on these wonderful conferences. A couple of years ago, we had road blocks up here in our tiny little town of Floyds Knobs. All we needed were some permits from the county. The first time we did it was in May, and we gave half the money to Donna's group FACES and the other half to the walk. We raised about $800 in just a one day road block! The next time we did it, it was around $1000 !!!! This is just for a morning of work. It doesn't involve a lot of planning, we made signs, had buckets with official AF logos and all on them, to reassure people that we were legit. Tree had made signs saying " Send an arthritis kid to conference " , and Kids Get Arthritis Too, and we all wore our FACES KGAT shirts. It not only raised awareness, gave Rob and friends service hours, but I feel, really empowered us to get out there and DO!! Just my 2 cents. Gotta run to WORK (after being up and down with Rob all night, who is now sleeping peacefully, the little lamb...) and Rob 18 Spondy
