Guest guest
I'm thinking we're going to have to do some follow-up shots. This morning she got her fourth steroid dose (one at ER & 2 at home), plus she's gotten a shot & a day's worth of oral antibiotics. She's still got a fever, sore throat, severe stomach cramps (I'm guessing air trapped?), not wanting to eat, on & on. I called the ped to give him an update & see what he recommended. (Duncan's also got a suspicious rash that I think is related to his reflux meds--great another allergic reaction!). He said she should have improvement by Saturday, but I think we're getting nowhere fast. I'll keep everyone posted. Guest guest
Hope she feels better soon. long night in the ER Well, last night was a really long night for Miranda. Last Sunday, we dropped her off at MDA camp, and returned Saturday morning to pick her up. When we were checking her out, they mentioned that she had been a "bit sick" Friday night "probably from eating too much junk at the dance". They did not give her meds Friday night, but Saturday morning instead (including her weekly MTX). So, by the time we got her home (it's a 2 hour drive), she was not feeling well. I thought she was car sick, laid her down in bed with a bucket and the tv, asked her to try to drink some water in case she was dehydrated. By dinner time, she had a fever of 102, and vomiting. Off we went to ER. They did all sorts of tests, IV fluids, tried (unsuccessfully) to get her to drink prep for a CT scan (it did not stay down), but finally got the CT scan performed, and I am ecstatic to say she did not have appendicitis. She has mesenteric adenitis, which the doc described as enlarged lymph nodes in the abdomen that mimic appendicitis. Poor dear is still sick (sleeping now, thank goodness), and is expected to be nauseaus for a couple of days until the virus runs its course. She had a really rough night. So, one more thing to chalk up to the funky immune response from this arthritis!SheilaMiranda 12, JIA/MMD
