Guest guest
We went in to the rheumy today to do Caroline's first Humira shot. She is starting at 20mg per week and we'll see where it goes from there. We got there and Caroline was in a very happy mood. We learned how to draw 20mg out of the 40mg pre filled syringe. We of course were being very careful as the one month supply costs $2744!!!! Anyway's, we numbed the area with an ice cube for about 40 seconds and then stuck the needle in. Caroline was okay until we started pushing the medicine in. At that point she started screaming to stop and began sobbing. I held her for a bit and within 4 minutes she told us it didn't hurt anymore!!! We stayed in the room for about another 10 minutes and she was back to her normal self spinning on the chair and singing songs .... They even gave her a prize for being soo good!! We'll see how next weeks goes as she now knows what is going to happen.... Either way we are glad she was able to do the shot and that she didn't have any reactions. We go back to the eye doctor in two weeks and the rheumy in three weeks. We're keeping our fingers crossed for good news!!! Guest guest
What a brave little girl Caroline is! Such an inspiration to big “needle chickens” like me. I am sorry she needs to go through this, but I sure hope this is just the ticket to get her under control. Give her a big hug and a gold star from us!
