Guest guest
e - I am sorry to hear about Joe's continued struggles. Is she done with school for the year so she can rest at all? I have never heard of a solumedral injection. I know Caroline gets some orally before each Remicade infusion, but other than that I have no experience. I hope Joe feels some relief soon!!! Guest guest
---e. Nick gets a solumedrol injection before his remicade, but it goes into his IV, I have never heard of it being injected directly into a joint. I hope someone else has more experience with this, its a new one to me! hugs Helen and (9,systemic) In , bound for london <boundforlondon@...> wrote: > > First off, let me say I am sorry for not reading and posting more. I am sorry to read of the many children and adults flaring and hurting, surgeries and struggles but happy to hear the positive posts too. That said I have a question...my daughters ankle is still hot, red and swollen even with everything she is taking and the increase of pred, her rheumy mentioned today that she could inject it with Solu-medrol (spelling?). We were leery because she has flared after her other injections--they were with Aristospan (spelling?). She said that some flare with the Aristospan, rare but known to happen but rarely happens with the Solu-med drug. Any experience? It would be injected into her ankle. We have to make a decision soon because her doc is going out on maternity leave until October soon. Don't know what to choose. Guest guest
Alia, No she is not done with school yet, her last day is the 14th and she was hoping for a week to rest but her job starts on the 16th I think. Bummer. She is just so wiped out. She never misses class, ever. But today she called to say she went to a class and the prof told her to go home and go to bed, she said she had 3 other classes to go to and he said turn in your assignments and go to bed. So she did. She is just wiped. Her boss is being a stinker (lady was in love with her last year) and oh so ready for a break. Sorry to hear about Caroline's eyes, that is not something we have had to deal with so no experience there. But keeping you and everyone else in our prayers. ealiaalan@... wrote: e - I am sorry to hear about Joe's continued struggles. Is she done with school for the year so she can rest at all? Guest guest
Helen, Yeah they want to inject in the joint but I dont' know. She hasn't done well with injections before. She flares instead of decreased swelling she gets more swelling. Hard to know what to do but once the doc is out on leave we are stuck for 4 months with the on call and not so good there. I put her on our church pray list tonight. e hburger64 <hburger64@...> wrote: ---e.Nick gets a solumedrol injection before his remicade, but it goes into his IV, I have never heard of it being injected directly into a joint.I hope someone else has more experience with this, its a new one to me!hugs Helen and (9,systemic)In , bound for london <boundforlondon@...> wrote:>> First off, let me say I am sorry for not reading and posting more. Guest guest
Donna, Thanks for the info. I talked to her today because she is just wiped out, skipped her classes etc. and just needed to talk. I asked about the injections but she is afraid she will flare. I don't know what to tell her. She gets out of school on a Thursday, and will come home for her brothers grad and then she will go to work that night. Crazy. She had hoped she would have a week off to just rest. The weekends she will be out cold I bet. Poor kid. Thanks for the info though. I will tell her. Doubt she will be interested though, but we will see. eajaoky@... wrote: Hi e and Jo......hang in there! I have had solu-medrol injections into my knees and they have been a God send for me. Guest guest
Solumedrol is just an intravenous steroid. My daughter had them when she was in the hospital with mono. Guest guest
They want to inject her ankle joint directly, not IV. I would be more comfortable with the IV than I am with the joint, since her joints flare when injected but that was with the Aristospan. She is going to try to let it resolve on its own. Her doc is going to be out on maternity leave until October so we are trying to get things settled now. She will be home from university next week so we'll see how things go after finals are over etc eChristy Boos <gazelle@...> wrote: Solumedrol is just an intravenous steroid.
