Guest guest
Helen, Hi, Things aren't so good for my mother. Mum had her x-ray yesterday and guess what- her ankle is broken! That sets her recovery back, as it's now been over a week without treatment on the ankle, plus she's been made to walk on it for exercise for her knee! And, she is miserable, because the lady in her shared room apparently didn't like her snoring. Now, no one likes to admit they snore, but seriously, mum doesn't do so that bad to warrant a complaint! Besides, she is having trouble sleeping at all, so naturally when she does so, she is exhausted and just crashes out. My mum is one of those people who take a helluva lot before they complain, so for mum to tell me how sad she was, I know she's sad. (Like, before the op, for us to know she was scared meant she was SCARED!) So I got onto the Chief Nurse and told her if my mum was unhappy, then I was unhappy, and what were they doing about it, as I am sure they are aware that one's emotional and mental wellbeing are vital to one's physical recovery. She acted as if I was a problem asking her to ring me back with an update of when mum would have her private room, so I told her I'd happily speak to her supervisor if it was a hassle for her. That got her. She arranged a move for the other lady, rang me back within 15 minutes, and they seem to be bending over backwards for mum. For now. I also told mum that the other hospital will be covering her additional medical costs, since it was their mismanagement that caused the incident in the first place, and they compounded it by not attending to it. We have medical friends who are advising me on how to handle it. I am wishign and praying thet things go well for her now. She so does not deserve any more rubbish!
