Guest guest
LibbyA very warm welcome to our group. As you know, you will find much support and information here. You asked about where to begin. A very good book is "Its Not Just Growing Pains" by Dr. Lehman. You might be able to pick up a used copy on Amazon. Its a keeper. I"ve had mine for a few years and I still look things up in it. Its very comprehensive. You can also search the net. Emedicine is a good site, as well as www.arthritis.org What medications does your daughter take??I have to run to work, but I know that others will chime in. We're sorry you have cause to be here, but you are right. This is a great place and there are many here who will inspire you and guide you. and Rob 18 Spondy Greetings All,I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Libby and I have a daughter who will be turning 15 on the 28th. She was diagnosed with JRA just this past Friday at a follow up visit with her rheumatologist at Boston Children's Hospital. It's been a very anxious time, not having a definitive diagnosis and watching my daughter in pain. Now on some level I feel I'm ready to go to battle, and yet on another I'm thinking, omg - how??? Where to begin???I've recently aquired a account just to join this group and to have support, and well, I guess friends right now. It's presumptious, I know- and a little odd to reach out to complete strangers. But I truly feel this is where I belong and need to ask for help in order to get the help I need to be there for my girl right now. In the last couple of days I've spent reading here, I feel this is going to be a god send for both my daughter and myself. I must admitt that I sometimes think I'm reading greek...the medical terms, the diseases, the medications. But more so than that, I can't tell you how many times I've caught my breath and stopped and sighed for many of you. Things I've read...the very young ages of your children....some older and the ages of mine....the pain, the frustration of the children and mother's here. Yet in just two days spent reading this board, I've seen more strength than I've ever seen or read of in my life. You all have moved me deeply and I hope, some day, I can deal with things with the strength and GRACE that I've seen here.(oh no - the new chick talks a lot! )Anyway, I'm not so sure I understand boards all that well and sometimes I think things are all in my mailbox and then I get lost here on the board....hope you'll put up with me as I learn the ropes with ALL these new things, and if I don't reply to something, it's simply because I can't find it!Thanks-Libby

It's much appreciated. Emedicine, huh? I'm I going to get freaked out reading possible side effects? sigh.....I just realized....this journey is going to make me toughen up real quick. I'm going to go do a little armchair shopping over at Amazon and order that. Anyone else have some reading recommendations? I have a book from the Arthritis Foundation that they gave me at the hospital.
