Guest guest
One of the benefits of contracting chickenpox (disease) as a child, is that you become naturally immune. Vaccines do not have that benefit. If you never had chickenpox as a child and then got it as an adult, then you should be worried, because it's far more dangerous as an adult then as a child. Considering however you already had chickenpox (assuming it was " full-blown " ) then you're golden. There has been cases however if someone had chickenpox where it wasn't a full-blown case that they got it again, but both events were minor. I am 6 months pregnant and I was around a little girl with a bad case of chicken pox (road an elevator with her and her mom- the child that had them was 14 months and they came up on Saturday and I saw her on MOnday- she was vaxed for them at 12 months if that matteres). Now I had chicken pox when I was a child, but should I be worried- I dont even know how they are passed or if my fetus could be harmed..thanks Amy
Guest guest
I wouldn't worry about it. I looked into it when I was about four months pregnant with my second because I was exposing my then two year old. It is only dangerous if the mother has never had them, or in the first trimester. I was told by my midwife that they also worry if the newborn is exposed, but since you are still a few months away from that, then I wouldn't worry. -- Sara Proud Mama to Colin 12/07/99 Jack 8/07/02 -------------- Original message -------------- I am 6 months pregnant and I was around a little girl with a bad case of chicken pox (road an elevator with her and her mom- the child that had them was 14 months and they came up on Saturday and I saw her on MOnday- she was vaxed for them at 12 months if that matteres). Guest guest
Similiar situation happened to me while I was pregnant, tho we spent an entire weekend with our friend's little one, I was fine and our midwives said the threat was to the fetus in the early weeks. Good luck Tania should I be worried? >I am 6 months pregnant and I was around a little girl with a bad case of > chicken pox (road an elevator with her and her mom- the child that had > them was > 14 months and they came up on Saturday and I saw her on MOnday- she was > vaxed for them at 12 months if that matteres). Guest guest
I had this same thing happen to me- I was pregnant with my son, and my daughter got the chicken pox at 11 years old. I was VERY concerned, so I called the clinic. They said because I had all ready had them (in 9th grade- and they were BAD!) That I was immune and the baby would not be effected. Hope that helps! Guest guest
Bugger. I have just stabbed myself in the thumb after giving Bayly his Mtx shot. The needle bent as I was trying to replace the cap, and it went straight through the cap, through my glove, into my thumb tip. Ridiculous. Damn thing won't stop bleeding, and not even The Simpsons bandaids will stay on at the top of the thumb. :-} Should I be worried about it? We're trying not to make a big thing of it, so as not to worry the kids. Stings a bit. Guest guest
I did that once too. I would just clean it and keep an eye on it and if it gets red or irritated I would call the dr and ask. Guest guest
Thanks , it seems ok today. Looks like the " Mater " bandaid did the trick! ( " Cars " , anyone?!) LOL Yes, we keep a supply of different badaids on hand, to keep Bayly and his lil sis entertained while I'm getting his needle ready (it's Violet's job to hold the bandaid 'til we need it).
