and ,

your so right about seeing a Dr and with the Strep. use to end up with her Voice box infected when she was younger. She also had the waking up with her throat sore and later it go away.

I watched for fevers. Her Doctor said to call anytime she had this due to she might have Strep. So far she might have had 1 strep case but the rest was due to voice box infection or just a sore throat with now apparent reason.

Hi . I sometimes get the pus pockets you mention, and mine have never been caused by strep. In fact, most of the time I feel fine, with just a sore throat when it first appears. They usually fall off, for me, about 5-7 days after I get one. Good luck. Kim

Beth,

Mom's as we are :-). We are always learning thing's. When my son was little I learned from him as he always was into thing's. So when came along lololol. I was more laid back you might say Ummm I THOUGHT. but even though I had him was never like him in ways. But when I was unsure off to the Dr we went. My Sister use to tell me I took the kid's to the Dr tooo much. Well .... lolol I was the Cautious type Mom. Better safe than sorry. Sore Throats can mean alot. From a Sinus drainage down the throat to it draining into the ear and causing a Secondary infection. Oh and even grosser things that go down end up in the stomach lolol. When you end up with a sinus infection ever feel sick at the stomach? Well it is all the drainage going down. Oh and if it goes into the lungs you have to think about a Secondary upper Resp infection. INFECTIONS can cause more thing's happening than it is worth.

Ever think about WHY everytime you take a Antibotic you end up with the Runs? lololololol. Ok gross but I am being HONEST. The runs is actually good as it is getting the infection out. Think about this. If your all stuffy in the nose and head. If you sneeze it opens the nasal passages and you can breathe alittle better.

Well if the sneezes end up with Post nasal drip at least it is coming out and your not stopped up. The good ole Castor Oil was given to get the nasty's out. lololol.

I had intended to take her in for a strep test the following morning

after she had been complaining of the sore throat. But, then she said

she felt fine. No fever, eating and drinking great. Looks completely

normal other than the " pus pocket " is still on her tonsil. (no change

in color or size..about size of an eraser tip)

Are you saying that even if there are no other symptoms that she could

still have a bacterial type of strep?

I appreciate your input. I don't know if there is a connection to

Aundrea's whole arthritis problem but it did start two weeks after a

severe sore throat, which only lasted a couple days and then seemed to

resolve on its own.

-Alpha-haemolytic streptococci, that are present in the mouth will

often be the organism isolated if a dental procedure caused the

bacteraemia.

Aundrea did get her braces put on like a day or two before the sore

throat devloped. Not sure if that was just coincidental or if there

is more to it.

Kim, I was basically thinking it was likely viral since she looks

great. Today is the 5th day that her tonsil still shows infection.

She has mentioned shortness of breath during exertion, but this isn't

really a new symptom for her.

I guess I could just have them swab her tomorrow. It seemed silly to

take her in since she looks good, but I also don't want an infected

tonsil to develop into something more serious.

Just a thought. My son tested negative for strep one day had more symptoms the next day I took him to a different place and he test positive. Went through a course of antibiotics and had a pocket of pus hanging off his tonsils. we were in surgery after that and we have not had any infection since......Terri

Most people would not have taken their child back in.

I was concerned on my daughter getting it. She broke out with a fever. They tested her and she was negative. She was tested for a Bacteria infection and she was positve. Life is crazy...

Ok, now you all have me convinced...Take her in!!! I guess I will not question myself anymore either when Hannah has a sore throat. Never seen the yuck you describe, but when her throat hurts is always looks inflamed and red. Like we moms don't have enough to deal with!

Please let us know what the doctor says.

Sending prayers & happy thoughts,

Beth :-)
