Guest guest
Hi everyone, We are considering the use of Remicade for our daughter who just turned 2. She was supposed to start Enbrel a month ago, but we are having difficulties getting it approved for insurance to pay (because she isn't 4), and it is currently in the appeal process. Not knowing how long that will take, or if the answer will still be a denial, her rheumy wants us to consider using Remicade instead (thinking that insurance would be major medical instead of rx so the age factor won't matter?). It took me almost a month to get my " gut " wrapped around using Enbrel, and the Remicade just scares me-period. I guess what I want to know is those of you who have children on it now-would you have used it if they were 2? How is it going, is it helping, are the infusions scary-reaction-wise? Any info you have and will share would be much appreciated-I'd appreciate any opinions too, even if your child isn't on it. ;-) She badly needs something soon-I thinks she's maxed on her mtx dose (12.5mg and she's 24lbs), and we have tried to taper her prednisolone without success-currently back up to 9mg/day. Thanks, Tracey and Madi 2yr systemic
