Thank you,

Oooops! I'm all booked up for PM's and AM's are closing fast.

Alice on the road to south GA. Change of route. No Nashville. Now in

Alabama headed for Birmingham and then Atlanta. Trees and beautiful

scenery everywhere. What a beautiful country. Yes we are blessed to

get up each day.

Hi, Alice,

All the very best to you that your surgery goes well and recovery is

uneventful. Rather than " spit " your own words back at you, please see

files and read your own words of warning to REST! LOL Hope this is finally

" the

answer " !

Thinking of you Alice! You've always been there for the rest of us so I'm sure

that the thoughts and good wishes from everyone on this list will carry you

through this with great positive results!

Alice ,

You must be overwhelmed with good wishes. I hope your surgeon has a good

night's sleep and will have steady hands. Being at the hospital for 6am is

way too early but I don't imagine you will be getting much sleep anyways.

God's spell !

Hi, Alice,

Wow, you post promptly! You are an excellent role model! <smiles>

Prayers will continue here for you that surgery caused swelling and on

hook-up day the Freedom jumps into action! In the meantime, remember to

practice

what you preach and use your recliner and REST, REST, REST! Hope it is an

uneventful recovery!

Missy, thanks so much for the words of support. It has been a rough

road and we're doing our best to make good decisions for the short

AND long term. Not always easy to do, that's for sure. I do think

I've decided that we will do what we can to preserve the hearing and

structure of our son's ear until he's old enough to make his own

decisions about this. I'm hoping this gamble works to his

advantage -- finally no recurrences, and a preserved/normal ear to

boot! Only time will tell. I'm certain that if the surgeon (Dr.

Eavey) thought the best way to go was a wall down, he would be frank

with us about that. So far, he still thinks that being conservative

is the best approach. I'm happy we're in agreement on that. :-)

Hi, Alice,

Your posts and the weather channel are keeping us abreast of your white

plight! I'm so glad it didn't take your electric power so you can enjoy the

gorgous nature and still keep warm, fed, and on line! <smiles>

May all good things come to you and yours in this New Year. Prayers for

a health and happiness.

Thanks so much for providing so much to so many in the form of this

forum and all the other ways in which you give.

Alice:

Wow, that is good to know. Thankfully, he's been on the regular dose for

some time so we haven't used the insulin syringes in a few years.

I'm so glad that you shared this with the group.

Hi Donna,

Just another comment on the Enbrel, it really is not a bad drug to take.

We had a 3 yr old on it for a while and injections aren't bad at all,

besides the fact that it works well, we did not need an nsaid with it.

I did just want to comment on the needle size. We use doctors out of

CHLA, where the conducted some of the trials. When they realized we had

been using the insulin syringes (as prescribed by another doctor) they

had us switch to a larger gauge needle (I don't recall exact size and it

didn't seem to impact the injection for my child). They said the

particle size of the Enbrel is a bit too large for the insulin syringes

and it can often break open the molecules upon injection and impair the

function of the medication. Thought I'd pass that along for you to

clarify with your doctor.

Hope you find something that works!
