Guest guest
Hi Colleen, You do not have to be an SHHH member to attend the convention. It is open to anyone who is interested in attending. You do have to be a member to get early-bird registration savings of $50. It costs $25 to join SHHH and their are no other requirements. You can attend meetings at your discretion and be involved as little or as much as you want. Hope this helps! LOL I'm glad you are feeling well enough to be here. Your daughter was so gracious to keep us filled in about your surgery until you could get here. Please thank her on all of our behalves. Easy recovery, and a terrific hook-up - in two weeks! Wow!! Jackie Activated Nov.5,2002
Guest guest
Alice, Thank you for your response. It always seems like there is a struggle to overcome yet, it's so rewarding when it finally happens. always works so hard to do the little things we take for granted yet, it never seems to bother him. He strives to be independent despite his disabilities and works hard to overcome them daily. That little kid has taught so many people so much in such a short time. I still have a lot to learn from him though. Sincerely, McFeely Son, 5-1/2, Post-Meningitis Implanted 9-98 Med-EL BTE Tempo+ mlmcfeely@... Guest guest
, We all have a lot to learn from disabled children. They have a special quality and courage that shines in their countenace. In my family, I've had the blessed opportunity to share very special moments with children who although labled disabled are more " abled " than most adults dealing with far less. Hugs to your family - especially . Guest guest
Whoops! Sorry. If you want to chat, maybe you could set up a chat time that would work in your time zone and announce it to the group. I know the time zones can be a problem when trying to organize a chat. From what you are telling me here, an afternoon chat in the US would work as an evening chat for you. Guest guest
I'm so sorry Alice. Is Dr. Horn doing the work or are you going elsewhere? I'm on spring break so it'd be easy for me to do anything--my wife's not off so we're staying in town--putting in tomatoes since you mentioned it but I'm using plastic water shields because past Aprils have been hard on my plants. So, if I can help, I'd be happy to. Hal

Guest guest
Hal...I'm not. We have to shut it off. The new one on the right has decided to take a right turn and is not working. We are hoping that it's the implant and not me but won't know until the activation on 3/12. The left side is not considered repairable - at least right now. If the new right one doesn't work, we'll have to try to do something with the left since I have sound there but it's tough to understand it since electrodes I need are outside of the cochlea and not on...but.. I am able to lipread with it's help. I am not able to wear the right side processor at the moment. Long story..and hopefully Wednesday's surgery will solve it all. I know.. I have not given the whole story until now..but.. you asked. Alice

Guest guest
Hal, What a sweet offer. I really appreciate it. Dr Horn is doing the surgery. I have pre-op in the morning. I'm at the stage tonight of just being ready to get this past me and I think everyone here understands that. Want to come over and tell me all about those plastic water shields? Guest guest
Hi Sharon, It was sweet of you to ask. Thank you. I had my post op appt today and even though the surgeon found some bleeding in the newly implanted ear (I knew something was happening because it was hurting), he says it is not a problem and we are on target for the activation next Monday morning. He also told me that he is very sure that it will go well and that I will hear just fine with the replacement. Alice
Guest guest
Ah, Alice...I AM going crazy. I knew your activation was on a Monday and it was before Jaxon's (the 14th). Oh well, I at least had the right month! Glad to hear your post-op appt. went well and there is no need to worry. Anxiously awaiting your update next week!
