Guest guest
, I have a 7yr old with poly. We seem to notice with her just the opposite. First of all I will say I feel extremely lucky that my daughter is very responsive to the medication she's on and we have had minor minor flares. But, we do notice that when she has cold symptoms & we have a blood test scheduled, her sed rate seems a bit higher than her norm. She never complains however. Also twice she's had a GI bug and as soon as that has ended, we've seen her go from her non-inflamed self to a little bug with a huge knee, toe or ankle. The inflammation restricts her to the couch all day with no movement at all. Both times this started upon wakening and by evening she is about 50% down. Next day she is slightly visibly inflamed and back to her little self with no complaints and by the end of 2 days we can no longer see any inflammation. We've mentioned this to her rheumy both times. He says it doesn't sound like arthritis at all, but since he's out of state (and it's so quick) we've never coordinated a visit with the flare. He told us to take a picture next time, but honestly it's just a larger joint. No redness or heat or anything. I have read that GI things can cause this in kiddos, but do wonder if there is some connection to ARTHUR. Wishing you all peace and happiness for your holidays! Alice OT - but a question I have noticed anytime I have something such as a stomach virus - the flu - etc and cannot take ANY of my meds (or food either) that ARTHUR - Thank Goodness - cause me no pain at all. My hubby suspects that my " body " is too busy fighting off the virus or flu or whatever to bother fighting against itself which keeps my pain level down to a 1 or lower. Anybody else ever notice that your / or your kids JRA gets better during such episodes or am I just " weird " in that respect? Thanks for any repsonses. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful PAIN FREE (as possible anyway) New Year. love, prayers, and blessings (age 37 - dx poly @ age 3)
Guest guest
Michele: My hubby and I just had this conversation yesterday. Hannah has been battling pneumonia since last week. Her breathing is slowly starting to improve (although that cough still sounds incredibly painful)...she has bad asthma too. Anyway we were talking that she has not complained about any of her joints since she got sick (other than one night she said her ankles hurt). I think she is so focused on her cough and worried about her asthma and not feeling well that she is not focusing on anything else Just my opinion.... Sending prayers & happy thoughts, Beth :-) OT - but a question I have noticed anytime I have something such as a stomach virus - the flu - etc and cannot take ANY of my meds (or food either) that ARTHUR - Thank Goodness - cause me no pain at all. Guest guest
hi , how interesting! I don't have RA...just fibromyalgia...(I am on the forum b/c of my daughter) but I am the opposite - my joints tell me when I am getting sick and once I am sick, or if I have a fever, the pain is excruciating in all my joints...I cannot move. Heard my daughter's rheumy speak once on what it is that is produced at times like this....cytokines?? cannot remember, but a light bulb went off in my head.. Glad to hear you have brief time of being pain free...too bad it comes with a nasty virus... Have a merry Christmas! and (16, unspecified arthritis, pidd, chronic migraine) thewalkers1989@... wrote: I have noticed anytime I have something such as a stomach virus - the flu - etc and cannot take ANY of my meds (or food either) that ARTHUR - Thank Goodness - cause me no pain at all. Guest guest
I also find Arthur (lol) reeks havoc when I am getting sick or am sick. Sometimes it's hard to even get out of a chair or out of bed when I'm sick, even when I'm under control. (JRA since 20 months old) nancy barnes <nancyb315@...> wrote: hi , how interesting!
