Guest guest
Helen: A couple of thoughts... Have Nick's cortisol level checked. Sometimes, after a person has been on corticosteroids (prednisone and solu-medrol both fall in this category)for a long time, the adrenal glands in the body that produce cortisol naturally 'forget' how to produce it on their own. Nick may be having low cortisol production inbetween his solu-medrol he's getting every 4 weeks. The timing of the test, in my estimate, would be best to do just before he is due for remicade (and solu-medrol), again, approximately 4 weeks after his last dose, but just before his next. I also agree with about counseling. Nick may be having 'control' issues. I know with Rob, I've now had him on a regimen of gotta take this med, this injection, we gotta go here, see this doc, all this scheduling stuff, for years. The loss of control can become overwhelming, so the child will find ways to exert their control. This may be Nick's way of finding some control. I am so sorry to hear that things have been so rough lately. Please know we are all here for you. Let us know what you find out/decide. and Rob 17 Spondy Helen, To go outside the box, do you think a child psychologist might help? I know you don't need another medication, but someone that Nick could talk to, or maybe you could too and understand. I don't know because I know the position you are in.....I feel for you! ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of hburger64 Sent: Wednesday, February 14, 2007 7:30 PM Subject: I need help...... Hey everyone, I need help, im looking for any articles or personal experience with side effects from medications. Im looking in particular about mood swings and moodiness. I have found some small mentions of methotrexate causing moodiness when i google the topic. I need more. I am also interested in prednisone, I know that it can cause mood swings etc when you are taking it. But can it still cause effects a few months after stopping it. What about having 25mg of solumedrol every 4 weeks ( with his remicade)??? Nick is struggling in school, big time....he gets into moods and then refuses to listen to anyone. I need to know if these moods could be the result/ made worse by the side effects of some of the meds hes on. Nick is currently on remicade, methotrexate, folic acid, prilosec and relafen. Any help would be so welcomed, im at my wits end. thanks hugs Helen and (9,systemic)
