I know it's a litte early to be thinking of the AJAO Conference in

July, but I need to plan ahead. Does anyone have any good ideas on

finicial help other than the AF?? We just recieved a letter asking

Kendra to go to DC to the kids summit in Feb. They will help in getting

her there. So i was afraid that if they helped with that we wouldn't

get help for the conference. Well i was told that they usually only

help a family once and then usually don't help that family for a few

yrs. I was really hoping to get some help. Kendra is persisant on

going!! so i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?! We are

saving all the loose change, laundry change, and collecting cans to

recycle. As of today they(the girls) have collected $130. not bad, but

it's going to take A LOT of cans!!

any suggestions would be appriciated!!

Hi,

Not sure if this would work, but you might have Kendra write a really

nice letter stating things like her age, her circumstances, where she

was going, why, what she hoped to learn from the conference, why it

would be beneficial for her to attend, etc. and send the letter to some

big corporations asking them to help her in the form of a donation. She

could ask for a small to moderate amount and hit a bunch of

corporations, particularly those companies that in some way cater to

arthritis patients (drug companies and others). I had friends in

college do this and raise enough money to fund their trips abroad, and

they didn't have a disease they were trying to conquer!!

Good luck!!

My family and I got a permit from our county and set up a road block on a

Sunday morning. We earned over $1000 ! We gave it to what was then FACES

(for kids with arthritis), now is AJAO-KY, to fund families to go to

AJAO.

It was a great day and we raised awareness that kids get arthritis too!

We had signs up and everything and decorated buckets. We found that

people were very generous!
