Guest guest
Have you been to a dermatologist? It does not sound like normal dry skin at all. It could be psoriasis or eczema. You probably already know but there is a type of arthritis called psoriatic. Fewer baths and mild soap will not help with either of these. You need prescription medication. My sons deal with these and winter can be horrible with the skin. e, mom to joe 20 poly + lupus rebpick1artist <rebpick1artist@...> wrote: I have been wondering about something lately. Elaney has always had dry skin. As an infant she would get dry ,scaly patches on her legs. The pediatrician recommended fewer baths and mild soap. We would also slather on the lotion. She gets dry itchy skin all the time. It is worse in the winter. This all sounds like just " normal " dry skin. However, she will itch it then by the next day it has a huge black scab on it. She doesn't scratch until it bleeds. It seems like she just scratches lightly then the huge black scab comes. It is like her skin is super sensitive. It seems worse right around her mouth.------When I was looking into the lung nodules issue I kept hearing about possible skin problems.----------Maybe I am just paranoid. Lots of bad things have happened lately. So, I just thought I would throw out this problem and see what you all think. Guest guest
That is one of the few " ologists " that we have NOT been to. I guess I will ask the pediatrician if he thinks we need a referral. I will also ask the rheumatologist.--- bound for london <boundforlondon@...> wrote: Have you been to a dermatologist? Guest guest
Yes, I know just what you want is one more ologist to go to, but it can be helpful. We just went yesterday and got some new shampoo and lotion-they are prescription. I didn't mean that the soaps won't help at all, just that if you are this severe you need more. for laundry, something like Cheer or All free. For the skin, Dove the white one is what we were told. And lotion. Showers and baths are fine but lotion afterwards. One of the more expensive ones like Lubriderm. It can help. Once out of the bath/shower lotion all over. After washing hands lotion. Pay attention to areas that have more severe problems. It can help because once you crack the skin it can get infected. And believe you are not nuts-you unfortunately just have a lot to deal with. So frustrating. Hopefully they will be able to work you in soon and you get something to get it under control. For awhile my one sons was so bad we would put the creams on him, and then wrap him up in saran wrap for the night. It was awful for him and a nuisance for us to have to do it. e, mom to joe 20 poly + lupus Pickering <rebpick1artist@...> wrote: That is one of the few " ologists " that we have NOT been to.
