Guest guest
Personally, I would have a dr take a look at her. Just because she has no fever doesn't mean she couldn't be sick with something. Just make an appt and bring her in just to check. Sleeping this much is too much in my opinion. What is the worst that could happen? You get there and nothing is wrong? Don't worry about that - at the least I think she could be dehydrating. I waited once with when he was little and it turned out he was dehydrating, even though he was going to the bathroom. He had to have IV fluids. slept this much last year when he had mono. If you are not comfortable with what the dr says over the phone, take her in. You are paying for the service; they aren't seeing her for free, right? Don't worry about being an overreacting mom. I don't think you are. If you are, then I would be too! LOL I hope you get some answers, Michele (19, spondy) ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of branx4 Sent: Tuesday, December 12, 2006 11:42 AM Subject: Belle's sleeping ... STILL I'm trying very hard to think rational through this crisis but its becoming increasing harder day by day , hour by hour.. Belle's body is trying to recover from last weeks flare and since this flare was the beginning of her hot swollen joints I realize this one will probably take a little longer to recuperate from. She went to bed on Saturday and woke up 41 hours later ( I did wake her so that she would drink a bit every few hours ) but she can't seem to stay awake for more that an hour or two at best. She has no fever ( actually its low at 79.1 ) no rash anymore , no swelling, not much pain but she cant stay awake . I made a DR appointment yesterday with her GP and then cancelled it when it looked like she was feeling better. She got up and showered , ate a sandwich and drank a juice box. By 4:00 PM she was back laying on the couch and sleeping. She slept until 6:30 AM today , and I made her go take a shower and see how she felt about school , after taking a look at her there is no way I could send her in . She's pale with those " sick eye's " and still SO very lethargic. I have called the Rheumy office but the new nurse is really of no help , no comforting words nothing ! She says to take her to the GP if " I feel like she needs to be seen but that this might be Belles new normal " . I m waiting for a call from the GP office to see what he thinks I should do . Guy's I just need some comforting words right now , Im doing all I can do to take care of her but it doesn't seem like enough .... Guest guest
I have to agree with Michele. When I read your post I immediatly thought of mono. Hannah had mono when she was 5 and she was very lethargic and slept a lot too. If it were my child I would make an appt. and take her in. The amount of time Belle is sleeping is not normal. Let us know how she's doing and I would trust your instincts on this one. Sending prayers & happy thoughts, Beth :-) Belle's sleeping ... Guest guest
Hi Teri, I agree with the others and think thats its time to get her in to the dr. When had pneumonia he wasn't coughing or running a fever. Infections can have different symptoms and her extreme fatigue is a symptom of something. You will feel better once you have her checked out. They should do a little lab work and see if anything is going on there. Having her tested for mono makes since. You can rule out a few things and if nothing shows up then perhaps this is flare related. Hang in there and let us know how things go for Belle today. sonia (aundrea 11 systemic jra/gerd) - -- In , " branx4 " <branx4@...> wrote: > > > I'm trying very hard to think rational through this crisis but its > becoming increasing harder day by day , hour by hour.. Guest guest
I would have to agree to call your primary care doctor and get her in right away. With a sub normal temperature and the amount of sleep there is likely an infection of some time going on. I can't remember which one but I do recall a doctor saying that is one way they diagnose illnesses, if temp is up above normal or below (one meant probably viral and another bacterial). She is likely dehydrated if she is sleeping that much. Time for a check up and hopefully they get her feeling on the mend quickly.-e branx4 <branx4@...> wrote: I'm trying very hard to think rational through this crisis but its becoming increasing harder day by day , hour by hour.. Guest guest
I think you are right to take her in to see the gp but I would also get ahold of her rheumy (not the nurse) and explain your concern. My thoughts are with you.
