Guest guest
Jill I don't use icy hot, but me and my son have both used a product we received at the Arthritis Walk. Its called 024 . You can get it at Rite Aid. Its kind of expensive, but we have had really good results with it. It is " essential oil pain neutralizer " , and it comes in little towelettes soaked in camphor oil. It really helps. You can also google it and it has a website and will show you what stores carry it. Guest guest
Jill, The Icy Hot doesn't do much good as says. You also have to be careful with some of the creams also. As they can cause a Rash. At the San Diego 2004 AJAO Conference they gave out something that REALLY was good and did stop pain. Look in the AVON Catalog and you can find it. It is for Pain. I myself will use Hubby as a Guinea pig lololol. The Icy Hot I rubbed on him didn't work. He said it get's cold then HOT and was stinging. He also got a red rash. Other creams were used on him to BUT this AVON product worked GREAT. I still have some around here. It is under 10.00. I have other thing's I use which is probably already in your Cabinet. Guest guest
Do you know the name of it?? I am open to any suggestions. We tried the Icy Hot last night and she didn't mind it, but I am not sure about the rash. We didn't think to check for that. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Jill: There is a warning on the Icy Hot pkgs about age. If I remember right it said not use on kids under 12. I use the Therma Care heat wraps with Hannah. I like them because they are made for specific areas of the body and come in different sizes. Some are even adjustable in size and velcro on. They say they last for 8 hours, but I've used the back one on myself and had heat for 10 hours....Just my 2 cents. Guest guest
Okay, I did find this comment about something sold through Avon and looked on their website. They have a roll-on product containing Celadrin, which is described as a join lubricator. Has anyone tried this? Guest guest
There was a wanring put out by the FDA about a product - I don't remember if it was ICY HOT or another brand - I forwarded it to the group a few weeks ago - it may have just been one particular lot, I don't remember because I don't buy any ot that type of product.? I'll see if I can find it and send it again, if I can.? Celadrin may be effective - but I personally would question it being a " joint lubricator " - how can you lubricate a joint from the outside? Guest guest
Yes, as an Avon lady, I have customers who have used this. My mom really likes it, found it to work ok. It is offered as a roll on right now, but if I remember right it was also in a cream. They offer it as a temporary pain reliever. It is in their Wellness line. The roll - on price I found most recently is $4.99. The description in the book is " rolls directly across sore muscles, strains or sprains for temporary pain relief " . On the bottle it says it is a topical analgesic lotion. My mom uses it for the arthritis pain in her feet and elbows. Hope this info helps, Michele ( 21, spondy) ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Finlinson Sent: Wednesday, August 13, 2008 11:23 AM Subject: Re: question about icy hot Okay, I did find this comment about something sold through Avon and looked on their website. Guest guest
Thanks Michele, It makes more sense to me to hear it described as a topical analgesic, which I know does provide relief to many people - I thought the other a?rather strange description for an Avon product. Guest guest
I wonder if the way it was meant (I have not read that description myself) is that it lubricates the joint area? As in it can loosen an area that feels stiff externally, not really lubricating the joint itself, which as you said is really not possible. I am now thinking about getting this for my hubby. I had forgotten that my mom orders it often from me. They also made a nice foot cream product through their Footworks line which provides similar topical relief for aching feet. My hubby does like that one, but I have not seen it recently. Also, for those who suffer with eczema or other itchy skin problems, their Moisture Therapy line has a great oatmeal lotion formula that my family really likes. You can often get that on special, Michele ( 21, spondy) ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of carneyval@... Guest guest
HI Michele, I am sure that it probably meant that it loosen's the area - I haven't read the description either.? That foot cream sounds interesting - my feet hurt alot!? I have used the oatmeal creams in the past - I have eczema - though thankfully haven't had any major flares in the last few years (knock on wood). Guest guest
Hi, Just wanted to say the Avon Product is Good. As and I always use my hubby as a Guinea pig on creams lolololol. Several years ago I thought I was doing good by buying the Aspercreme and Bengay and other such Items to help relieve 's pain but in return it would cause her to burn and rash worse. Soooooooooo My Hubby became the guinea pig. If it did not bother him then got to try it. Well I have to say I have had to take back a lot of Creams such as ICY HOT and Aspercreme. As My hubby always had a reaction to it. Now those of you who did attend the San Diego AJAO Conference should have received the AVON Cream and they still do sell it at 4.99 per tube. When we got back from that Conference my hubby tried it and has been hooked on it ever since. My daughter in law sells Avon and that's how we was able to buy it now. Ok, I figuired I would try the Asorbine Jr patch so I bought that for a 1,00 at Dollar Tree ummm was really hurting last week with her hips and back and she asked me to put it on her. Ummm Well less than 10 minutes later she was hollering to get it off. When I pulled it off she had a RED patch on her hipsand back. I told her do not put water on it as it could cause it to burn worse so I put the HydroCortizone cream on it. Well there goes another one out the door of not trying again. Since the kid's have a more Sensitive skin I would be weary about using this type of stuff. If you are going to use it try a small part just to see. I do have a bottle of the liquid Asborbine Jr but will not go anywhere near with it lololol. Besides the smell lolol She is afraid of what is told will work but the end result is a side effect. Remember OTC's can react with Prescribed Medications as well. Robbin **************Looking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget? Read reviews on AOL Autos. Guest guest
, YEP that is it. lololol. Comes in Roll on or Cream. The price is great as well. So far no reaction to this for or Hubby. lololol. So I do HOPE Avon keeps this product on their Market as it does help. It is better than the PTC Creams selling for 17.99 Robbin **************Looking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget? Read reviews on AOL Autos. Guest guest
, So far AVON is the only place can actually order products from and not have any skin reaction. Have to say she has ordered from Kay and WOW what a Skin reaction she had and there's another one which she has heard from me about STOP trying everything on the market before something serious really happens to your skin. After my daughter in law showed her AVON she has stopped using products which say this and that but is reversed reactions.
