Guest guest
Hi : Playing catch up here again, but wanted to add my 2 cents to the picture, for what it's worth. You are right to question that dose of Tylenol. I would definitely wait and check with the doctor before using that dose. With some of the meds our children are on the liver is already working overtime and I would worry about Tylenol Toxicity. Knowing what my brother went through with it and multiple organ failure, it's a worry/concern. I even have the nurse at both schools (Yes, I am a pain in the a**, but you know that already right lol.) notify me if and when they are giving the girls Tylenol so I don't give it to them again until the time is right. You should have seen me when they were dosing Caitlin with Tylenol and ibuprofen while in the hospital in an attempt to keep the temp down (didn't do squat for it either). Of course, my brother was literally fighting for his life at another hospital at the same time. I am so happy that Aundrea has found so many friends so quickly in a new town for a great birthday bash. Did she have a blast? Bet you slept well the next night eh! I hope Miss Aundrea is feeling better soon and please wish her a happy birthday for me. Take care. Patty
Guest guest
Hi : Yes, it's been awhile:( The girls are just such computer hogs LOL, by the time they are off, I'm asleep! They stay up later than me:) Man I am starting to feel old LOL. Things are okay here. Alyssa just started her first job (about a month ago) and is loving it. It's right up her alley, a veterinarian hospital. Of course, I have now learned of some very nasty, scary diseases animals get that can be passed on to humans YIKES! Caitlin seems to have 'evened' out again. I just keep my eyes and ears open for any cutting acitivity and /or signs of depression. She is the social butterfly though. She will be in high school this August..........feeling old again! is doing great, although the bugs in NH apparently find her particularly tasty and she is covered in bites. She is doing EYP at school this summer and gets two hours of one on one tutoring 3x a week. She is showing some early signs of independence ! This is the girl that many doctors said wouldn't graduate from high school, etc. SCHMUCKS, I'll be sending them invites to her college graduation, let alone high school! My husband is still waiting on his clearance. It will be a year in July. He has started working full time again recently at a health care organization, thankfully. He and I will FINALLY have health insurance again YEAH! I know you know that feeling. I just got off the phone with Maggie, my friend battling cancer. She is not doing very well. The cancer has spread from her uterus, a lymp node in her lower back (both removed with sepearte surgeries) and now has a large tumor on her hip which broke it. She has finished chemo and has been undergoing radiation for about 2 months now. She got out of the hospital (3rd stint) about 2 weeks ago. Tuesday is her last radiation treatment and then we will see what happens. She is bedridden and in extreme pain, with some heavy duty narcotics on board. She has been told one way to tell if radiation is working is by the pain diminishing, hers has not:( It's gotten worse:( It breaks my heart not being able to be there, physically, for her and she really wants me to come down and see her. It's hard with Mark just starting back at work, time will tell. Hopefully, I'll be able to see her soon. I keep saying my prayers for her that she gets her miracle. My mom is in rehabilitation after a complication of shingles called Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. She was in the hospital for a week and this is her fourth week in the rehab facility. She is in quite a bit of pain still and hasn't eaten much for the entire time. They are now talking of putting a feeding tube in. Of course, she doesn't want that, but is scared to death of choking as she has Bells Palsy from the RHS and some of her muscles in her face and throat are paralyzed. I pray she is better soon and gets to come home. She so desperately wants to be home and feel better. Glad to hear the ibuprofen is keeping ahead of the pain and Aundrea was able to enjoy her party. Good luck on Monday. Let us know what you find out. How's the business going? I checked your website and I have to say you aren't as I pictured you as LOL. Enjoy the rest of Sunday. I hope Aundrea continues to feel better quickly. Take care. Patty
Guest guest
Patty, I agree with you. The toxicity of tylenol is becoming more publicized. I have a friend in the hospital right now fighting for her life because of tylenol. I guess kids under 10, and adults over 40 are at the most risk from tylenol toxicity. My friend is in renal and liver failure. There was just a study this last week about people taking the prescribed amount of tylenol. After two weeks, some of the people showed altered liver function. I am not saying that a person should not take tylenol, but you have to be careful. Guest guest
Hi Patty, Been quite awhile since I chatted with you. How are things going for you and the girls? Any word about your husbands job situation? How has your friend been doing that is fighting cancer? You were right about the tylenol and its worries. After coming to the board I then followed up on the links that e gave me and it sure seems that he wrote the script for the wrong dose amount. Its not a script so much as a treatment plan and medication list. Anyway, I opted to go the safe route and just stay with ibuprofen in the doses that she was prescribed before. I gave her 800 mg yesterday and plan to just give it to her today in the same manner..Probably better to stay ahead of the pain. I feel pretty certain that the dr. stayed away from prescribing NSAIDS because Aundrea had developed a real sensitivity to them over time...I think we should be ok though for the weekend. Aundrea said she is ready for mtx as long as she gets something for the nausea..so we will see what Monday brings...My husband also said that it looks like the only way to keep the disease under control has been thru the use of mtx..if only we could limit her side effects from it...She is just so very sensitive to drugs. ugh! Yes, she did have a good time with her friends. thankfully the ibuprofen that I was giving her thru-out the day was keeping her pain in check and she was able to have a good time. Give me an update when you get time! Guest guest
Hi Patty, Well, I don't know if thats a good thing or not that I don't look as you expected! haha You will have to look at our photo album here on the jra list to see pics of my son alex, aundrea and me...Do you have an album on the board..I looked but never found it. Great news about your hubby getting a job and health insurance again. Thats wonderful! Our kids have it now but Bob and I are still waiting. Its so expensive when you have to pay for it privately. Glad to hear that the girls are doing well. Jobs, highschool, independence...yes we are getting old! lol goes off to highschool this year. Its seems so sureal! Sorry to hear that Maggie continues to struggle. I know you would like to be there for her. Maybe with your husbands new job something will work out for you to make a trip home. Its hard with a houseful of teens I imagine. I will continue to pray for her and that she will get a miracle! Sorry to hear about your moms health problems...Does she live near you now?- Its always wonderful to hear from you...Like chatting with an old friend. :-) Blessings, (Aundrea 10 systemic jra) -- In , ThreeMayEmeralds@... wrote: > > > Hi : > > Yes, it's been awhile:( The girls are just such computer hogs LOL, by the > time they are off, I'm asleep!
