Yes , I agree with you about the

commercialization of so much of this site.

With the body so able to help itself I wrote a

book about it, only 9.95 plus shipping. Best, JR

(Don't ask for the book, I'm only kidding).

Oh, and , please tell me more about

sex since my cancer treatment left me in a state

where I can only listen.

HEYA all,

Sex is the best way to cope with STRESS BAR NONE. Get some, it's cheap,

and it'll make you a fan of somebody that you love to love.

You know, with this site, I'm trashing most of what I'm reading that is

product related, because it's so commercial.... doesn't anybody talk about

how the body heals itself?

It's stressful just READING this list some days.

I'm going to bed. Think about THAT.

Be well,

PS. Yes, Tom Dalton, even YOU can have sex.

Having a bad day? Been burning the candle at both ends? You might want

to get some vitamin C into your body. Dr. P. , of the

University of Alabama in Huntsville, conducted a study on lab rats and

found that vitamin C helps the body cope with stress by lowering the

stress hormone levels in blood and other indicators of stress, such as

lower body weight and enlarged adrenal glands. So at the end of a

long, hard day, relax, put your feet up, and have some vitamin C.

What is tantra? Do you mean mantra? JR

I appreciate the light you have shined to this list. I agree with you. True

tantra can be incredibly healing and it is free!

Dear Coping with Stress,

Sounds like your plate is overloaded, and could use some good clearing and

upliftment to it. I'm certain you'll get lots of ideas and assistance from

this wise group of energy enthusiasts and professionals!

I am a Vietnam veteran with a 50% diagnosed PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress

Disorder) who has dramatically reduced stress through light therapy and

more recently EFT. If you live in northern CA., I can put you in touch

with the health professional with whom I worked with on the light

therapy. It changed my life dramatically.

I've been using EFT since March, 2004 on daily stresses, tapping as many

as 8 times a day for a variety of issues. Usually to gain relief from

stress, the tapping takes less than 2 minutes.

EFT has proven to be highly effective with PTSD with veterans, as is

evidenced by Craig's (EFT Founder) videos of his work with the

Veterans Affairs of Los Angeles a number of years back. That would be a

good place to start.

Here's a link to my site, as I'm focusing my efforts on depression, which

you may have as well.

I offer results guaranteed sessions.

Especially with the holidays upon us, stress can build more easily if

you're not handling it healthily.

Warmly and best wishes,

Harvey

Stress is a part of life. From being stuck in traffic to falling behind on

paying bills, too much stress can wreak havoc on our bodies. If you have a

chronic illness, even small tasks, such as making dinner or picking up the

children from school, can become overwhelming. Research on how stress causes

medical illness is still in its early phases. We do know though that stress

can cause physical symptoms, and may increase the rate of progression of a

disease. Here are some ways to reduce your stress.

Adjust your attitude. According to researchers, you can better cope with

stress by focusing on three ideas: challenge, control and commitment.

Try to interpret stressful situations as challenges, not as threats.

Determine what you can control; sometimes the only thing you will be able to

control in a stressful situation is the way you respond, but that's a start.

Make a commitment to be good to yourself by eating healthfully, thinking

positively and maintaining relationships with people you care about.

Learn to problem solve. The key, say experts, is to think through difficult

situations systematically.

Break problems into smaller pieces to make them less overwhelming

Focus on problems that really need your attention and leave the rest

Know your limits

Learn to be flexible

Be realistic about your choices

Communicate. Keeping your troubles inside only adds to stress. Find someone

safe to talk to about your worries; it will reduce stress and help you deal

with practical problems. If you have a chronic medical condition,

participate in a support group.

Exercise. Regular exercise reduces stress. It helps protect the

cardiovascular and immune systems from the consequences of stressful events.

Whether it's swimming, walking or another form of exercise, find time to do

the activity on a regular basis.

Take control of your diet and your sleep. It's hard to do, but if you eat a

well-balanced, nutritious diet and get a good night's sleep, you'll have

more energy to cope with stress. And if you're tired and cranky, you'll be

more susceptible to stress-related ailments.

Do something for others. Volunteering for a worthy cause can be a great

experience. It also can help you forget about your own problems and increase

your self-esteem.

Hi Teri,

You're welcome. Tips and reminders about how we may better deal with stress

usually do come in handy - and not just for those with health concerns :)

Aloha,

Georgina
