Guest guest
Hi . Have you ever looked at the info on Dermatomyositis? Here is a link: Dermatomyositis: Encyclopedia of Children's Health There is a part that talks about a rash over the knuckles, which made me think of this. Good luck, Kim In a message dated 6/16/2006 5:50:51 PM Central Standard Time, sonia1md@... writes: Aundrea returned home with a scab on her lips and she has a red rash on her hands..alongside both thumbs and over each knuckle. Guest guest
, How scarey for Miss Drea.I have a 10 yr old girl at home who acts very tough, strong and invincible but has her moments. You know what to do so all I can offer are my prayers. I pray you get some answers this Friday and get a hold on things. Aundrea is drop dead gorgeous at a very tender, young age.You and daddy have your hands full with that alone, don't need anymore complications. I know you will keep us updated and please do! Love and hugs Becki and 7 11/12 and a few days,he wants to be 8 so bad
Guest guest
: I'm so glad Aundrea had a great time at camp!! I'm sorry she came home with these new complaints though. If it were Hannah, I would not wait until your visit a week from now to have these issues addressed. I would call the rheumy's office as soon as possible and run it past them. I would probably also call the ped regarding the breathing issue. But then again, that is the one diagnosis I know for sure with Hannah is the asthma. Were there doctors or nurses at her camp that may have seen the rash or witnessed the breathing problem? I would probably find what they think. I don't know too much about rashes, except Hannah has developed one all around where her knee injury occurred. I think its probably from the cast. Lots of things can affect breathing. Was she in a different climate? Was it really humid? Does she have allergies? All of these can be factors. Hope this helps at least a little. Tell her to hang in there. Hannah says hi and says to write when she's feeling up to it. sonia1md <sonia1md@...> wrote: Hello everyone, First of all Aundrea had an awesome time at jra camp. She made some new friends and loved that there were other kids there that she could totally relate too. I am really glad that I let her glad and of course quite happy to have her home again! :-) So, as you may remember Aundrea had a blood draw last Friday to run several tests for Lupus. We go back next Friday to meet with her rheumy and find out the results of the tests. Aundrea returned home with a scab on her lips and she has a red rash on her hands..alongside both thumbs and over each knuckle. She still had transient joint pain in ankles and knees but I believe I can see the swelling now in her fingers...(the doc saw 6 joints in her hands swollen last week, but I couldn't tell) The other new complaint Aundrea had was that she is becoming very winded when she exerts herself. She mentioned that she was running just a short distance to the bathrooms and she was struggling so much for air that it scared her. She said that this happening more often and that she doesn't really have pain but just cant seem to catch her breath... Of course you know how Aundrea is. Never really complains about anything and when she does mention something its always in passing as if its no big deal. Aundrea is a really hard kid to figure out. She has all these symptoms yet she is well nourished and active. I never know if I am reading into her problems or if its related to her disease! Of course I will mention these new symptoms to the doctor but I was wondering if any of this sounds familiar to you guys or if your kids have gone thru similar problems. Thanks, (Aundrea 10 systemic) Beth Yohnk Happy Thoughts..Be Well
Guest guest
Beth, I am not sure what to make of her breathing complaint. I have never witnessed it before but she said it started happening a couple of weeks ago. She was in an elevated climate so I thought that could be the problem. Maybe I will have her exert (go for a short run or something) herself a bit tomorrow and just see how she does. She took a hot bath and fell asleep by 6:00. I guess she is just going to sleep straight on til morning. Hope the rash on Hannah's knee clears up...take some pictures of it just in case it progesses. Hopefully, its just related to the cast. I told Drea when I picked her up that Hannah got her cast off. She was happy to hear that. I am sure she will be emailing Hannah tomorrow. She loves to email and talk on the phone! lol sonia (drea 10 systemic) -- - In , Beth Yohnk <yohnkmom@...> wrote: > > : > > I'm so glad Aundrea had a great time at camp!! Guest guest
--Kim, Aundrea does have some symptoms of JDM. Her rash on her hands looked similar to the pictues I saw of JDM but she doesnt have any cuticle damage at least that I can tell. They did test her for this 3 years ago when she first flared and it has come up since that time as a possible dx. If the lupus tests are negative I plan to ask them to check for her muscle enzymes just to make sure that they are still ok. Thanks for the info. sonia (aundrea 10 systemic) - In , mnmomof1@... wrote: > > Hi . Have you ever looked at the info on Dermatomyositis? Guest guest
Thank you Becki for your kind compliments on Aundrea's pictures. I love her blue eyes. My whole family has dark brown eyes so she is a unique one. She got the dutch girl looks from her daddy. Aundrea will be 11 next month and it amazes me just how much quicker girls develop than boys. I swear my 14 year old son just hit puberty less than a year ago and Drea is already there....Yikes it feels like two teens in the house! Happy early b-day to I remember when I turned 8 and I drove everyone crazy saying " I am eight and eight is great " ! lol sonia (drea 10 systemic)- -- In , Arthurnator@... wrote: > > , > How scarey for Miss Drea.I have a 10 yr old girl at home who acts very > tough, strong and invincible but has her moments. > You know what to do so all I can offer are my prayers. > I pray you get some answers this Friday and get a hold on things. > Aundrea is drop dead gorgeous at a very tender, young age.You and daddy have > your hands full with that alone, don't need anymore complications. > I know you will keep us updated and please do! > Love and hugs > Becki and 7 11/12 and a few days,he wants to be 8 so bad > > >
