Guest guest
Helen, The way I did with and the bites was use peroxide and alcohol then used a antibotic cream and a bandaid. Neosporin with pain relief is a better cream to use. As this will take the itch out. Go get a insect spray with high DEET in it. Keep them clean. I would call the Dr if the fever continues. As for the teeth. had to have her's taken out. But with 6 I would ask about doing the outpatient extractions myself. They put to sleep and she never remembered it. I would do that again. Guest guest
Helen: I think my first call would be to the ped's office. 103 is a good fever especially after Tylenol and being on Pred, which can mask infections. When Hannah was really little up to age 4 she was allergic to mosquito bites. One time she got bit near her and her was swelled shut for 4 days. If the ped's office thinks it's more from the other stuff, I would think they would let you know. Can he take benadryl. that always helped Hannah. Let us know how he's doing. Guest guest
Helen, Nick's pediatrician needs to be contacted, based on your description of these bites. He may well have an infection and because of his meds you don't want to play with that. Guest guest
--Liz, Thanks, I was already planning on taking him in tomorrow. I took a picture of the one on his neck and it does look yucky. his fever has come down to 100-101 thank goodness and hes perked up some. Still I don't want to leave these too long and problems set in. The rheumy on friday was telling me of a little girl with infected chickenpox spots that went into a full blown flare because of the infection. thanks hugs Helen and (8,systemic) - In , " liz smith " <liz_smith@...> wrote: > > Helen, > > > > Nick's pediatrician needs to be contacted, based on your description of > these bites. Guest guest
I'm glad to hear that, Helen. We learned earlier this year that things aren't always what they seem and need to be monitored more closely than would normally be necessary. had a zit on her leg that we learned was not a zit but was a staph infection. Hence my suggestion that the doc have a look. Also, Rob is getting wisdom teeth out on Tuesday, and they are putting him on antibiotics since he is on Enbrel and MTX. You really need to talk to the dentist about his risk of infection. Guest guest
-maria, Thanks for the info.I had already planned on calling the rheumy tomorrow about the extractions as Nick is on prednisone and has been for the last 2 1/2 years. I have read if they need surgery then extra prednisone might be needed. Im not sure if pulling 6 teeth is as drastic as surgery but its going to be a fair amount of trauma in his little mouth. Best call and double check. hugs Helen and (8,systemic) -- In , snooksmama@... wrote: > > Helen: > I " m with Liz, you need to call the ped asap. Guest guest
> > My son used to be extreamly sensitive to mosquito bites when he was younger. He would get a bite on his arm or leg and they would get red, hot and very swollen and yes the puss would be there also. His arms would get so swollen that they looked like Popeye arms. He would get emphantigo (? on the spelling I have no idea how to spell that word). But he finally outgrew that stage. Guest guest
Also he will need antibiotics before it anyway because of his heart. I always have to do a ten day course of antibiotics with every dentist appointment.. With Love (JAS, 21) snooksmama@... wrote: Helen: I " m with Liz, you need to call the ped asap. Guest guest
Helen, Have the bites checked.Celulitis is common for kids on TNF's and can get quite serious if not taken care of. I don't know what is causing the fevers, you made no mention of Arthur so hopefuly it is being caused by something else. Poor Nick having to get 6 baby teeth pulled all at the same time.I don't think I would go for that one unless they offered IV sedation. I hope everything works out ok and Nick's fever goes away.
