Guest guest
Hi : I had my gb removed in June 2004. I will admit (it's all in the archives:) I was one worried chick. Not for the pain, but due to my cardiac issues. Ms. helped me through that big worry...........she's a sweetie:) Thank you Had a cardiac work up and felt better about the whole thing. You have gotten a few posts already, but wanted to add a few things. They took mine out through the top incision not the belly, below the sternum. I had 4 small incisions and they got smaller as they went down. One under my belly button and three in a nice little row along my right side. I also ended up with some serious bruising, from my rib cage down my side and hip area and into my back. However, I bruise easily. Doctor was impressed with it LOL. He is a card! The pain is tolerable and it sounds like you have a high threshold for it, a plus. However, don't make the mistake I did of trying to breath shallower because it hurts. I ended up with having the alveoli in my lungs collapsed. So just breathe:) Also don't forget to have something in your stomach when taking the pain meds. I took a couple of doses without food in me and paid the price with me being nauseated. I never had to do the clear liquids for 7-10 days, just avoid greasy food and let my body tell me when I am ready to eat what I want to eat. Honestly, I didn't eat before I had it out and lost weight because I was scared to eat because of the problems I'd have after. I was in and out the same day, wanted to stay because I couldn't wake up, but they booted me out the door anyway. I wanted to see my gb (curiosity and I am amazed at what makes us us) so the doctor took pictures for me to keep LOL, he wouldn't let me see the actual gb, had to go down to path blah blah. Let us know when it's scheduled. Good luck. Take care. Patty
