Guest guest
n came off of the vent yesterday. She is out of intensive care, and in a regular room. We are thrilled. She is very, very weak. Like she doesn't even have the strength to sip from a straw. So it might be a long recovery, but she is going to be okay. Her platelets are up to 140, in the low range. But they had been 20-40. She still has some fluid around the heart, but it is minimal. She is on blood pressure meds for the cyclosporine's side effects. They are also watching for diabetes with the high dose steroids. It is going to be a great Easter. (n, 17, systemic) On Apr 15, 2006, at 7:16 PM, snooksmama@... wrote: > Just have been thinking of and praying for n and . Has > anybody > heard anything? Guest guest
that actually IS great news for Easter! I have been away the last couple of days visiting our family, and been praying for all our JIA kids the whole time I was at Mass. And I had a few chances to do sothese past few days. So I am very happy to read of n's improvements. I hope it continues. (Bayly's not so well right now but at least he's home with us!) Guest guest
Hi , I was just checking in and hoping to hear that things went according to plan with removing the vent. So glad to hear that she has turned the corner and is ever so slowly regaining her strength. I bet she is so tired that she must just want to sleep all the time. I can't imagine those high doses of steroids she was on...Makes you wonder how long it will take her body to just " sort " everything out. Are you and your husband still able to tag-team your time between hospital and home. I hope that his employer has been generous with time off and meeting all of those needs. Your family remains in my prayers and thanks again for taking the time to update us as to how n is doing! Guest guest
, I am so glad to hear that n is improving! Lots of prayers coming your way for a quick recovery. has been on blood pressure medicine ever since they added the cyclosporine - we did find that as we were able to lower the steriods from the high IV & PO amounts given when hospitalized or in a flare - we were also able to lower the bp med. His bp wasn't high until the cyclosporine was raised - but the bp would be higher when the steriods were higher - apparrently the combo of the two meds can really cause the bp to raise & I think I've read that the steriods alone can cause hypertension - though in 's case, that wasn't a problem til the cyclosporine was added to the mix. Hmm, could I have found a longer way to say that? Sorry for the wordiness, but again know that we are so pleased to hear of the improvements & will continue to pray for n and the rest of your family - as well as all of the others here on the list.
