Guest guest
Teri, I have always heard that hormones play a big role in arthritis.I can't help you because I have a boy with arthritis. I can understand dealing with a girl and puberty. My daughter turned 10 in Dec and she anounced the other day that she has hair down there. Realy threw me back because I was hoping we would have a couple more years before this sort of thing happened. I hope it doesn't cause Belles arthur to act up.Hopefuly someone else will have more knowledge. Hugs Becki and 7 systemic
Guest guest
This is an interesting topic and why I say this is when I started my period my arthritis improved for many years just like when I went into remission during pregnancy. This only makes me think there is a hormonal connection. I hope Belle has the same luck! Donna

Guest guest
when amber started her period last year she had cramps and mood swings, but as far as her arthritis goes she didn't go through any extra pain or flares because of it. kay( mom to amber 13 poly)
Guest guest
Sadly when i got my period at 13 (actually two days before my 13th birthday) i ended up in a huge flare, but seeing as my birthday is in winter also it might not have been from that, but a lot of girls do tend to flare worse in puberty, well boys too actually. Congratulations on her period.. lol ok I know no one is ever excited about that. I remember my mom bought me new pretty underware to try to make me feel better and a pair of pajama's.. how is belle taking it? I was pretty devestated! Guest guest
, She was more embaressed than freaked ... I was a little freaked but I knew the day was coming. This past summer we had gone shopping for her own " stuff " and we have talked about it but like, you I thought it was a while off. I was kind of wishing that the arthritis would somehow make it start later. It She told me ten min. before she had to leave for school so we had a short re-fresher lesson , I told her we'd talk when she gets home. Guest guest
Hi Teri, Congratulations to Belle! She has now joined " the sisterhood " ! I tried to make my daughter's day a special one, a rite of passage. A milestone in her journey of growing up. She wasn't as excited about the whole thing as I was but she did enjoy having a special girls-day out. We had lunch together and I got her a small gift - a bracelet. Two of my friends phoned her, to say congratulations and let her know that if she ever felt like talking or had any questions they'd be there for her, as well as her Mom, to lend an ear. She got hers at age 13, same as me. Unfortunately, I'm not able to help with how this might affect one's arthritis, as it's my son -not daughter - who has arthritis. I wonder if maybe this relates to why Belle had been experiencing her tummy pain? Aloha, Georgina Big day at our house ! Guest guest
If your daughter is taking Enbrel one of the side effects of it is frequent heavy menstrual bleeding. Not everyone has this problem but frequent enough that doctors are totally clued into it now. Keep a record of when, how frequent etc. Periods are an absolute nightmare for my daughter and some other teens with jra we know. Flares like crazy. Started on low dose birth control, no more heavy bleeding, lessened arthritis symptoms. e, mom to joe 19 poly + --------------------------------- Photos Got holiday prints? Guest guest
Hi e , Thanks for the insight . Belle isnt on Embrel , but I will call and tell them about her statring just in case. You know , I thought about it yesterday but it didnt happen. So far it just REAL light , but I know its only the begining ... Belle is a very dramatic girl anyway ,this should be a fun next six years ( until she is out of hight school). She is a carbon copy of me at her age ... after a very dramatic day with Belle my husband always says " you must have been a wonderful child " ~ We are seldom board around here! Guest guest
Ok Y'all I had to comment on this one. Sisterhood. :-) The Sisterhood of the Ya-Ya's. This would be good to get started. Make the Males in the group Honorable Sister's. Or get one going of the Brotherhood of the Ya-Ya's. I finally watched the Sisterhood of the Ya Ya's. Was a good movie once I was able to finally sit and watch it from start to finish. and I watched it. Maybe the Sisterhood of JRA then the males could be honorable sister's. Picturing everyone in those hat's is funny. My hubby say's he has enough sister in laws to make up the Sisterhood of anything and all of us are about as nutty. He's always saying something about my sister's lololol. One thing for sure is we all stick together. Even my brothers Robbin

Guest guest
Congratulations(?)! I'm a little late. My girls are 9. When I talk about it now they plug their ears and yell " I'm not listening! " or " That's gross and I'm not going to do it! " . Wouldn't it be nice to have the choice! I am not ready for them to get it. With everything else has to contend with I hope it doesn't make her worse.
