Guest guest
Hi , I have just been thinking about Tree lately and wondering how her recovery has been going? Did they get their house sold and find something that would be more manageable for her with a wheelchair/walker? You should give a little summary about Tree so that all of our new folks on the list can benefit from the story of how this inspiring and courageous woman has fought back, when all odds were against her! Guest guest
: Thanks for asking...I did not update on Tree in awhile. I spoke with her again today. She is doing better. She had been in a really bad arthritis flare, and had not been getting around much, but was started on Arava and its finally kicking in. She was in good spirits today. She is walking several times a day around the house, but still needs someone with her 24/7 for assistance. Her lungs continue to be the main problem. Her pulmonologist continues to tell her that they are 'healing' and it will take time. She is still dependent on oxygen. They haven't sold the house. It seems that those plans are on hold, for now. They are using their living room as Tree's bedroom, holding her hospital bed and oxygen tank. Tree said to tell everybody this: Thank you all so much for all the cards you have sent me! It was so great receiving them and seeing where they had come from. I appreciate all of you thinking of me and you were such a bright spot for me when I was in the hospital and the nursing home. To those who are new, Tree is in her early 40's and has had JRA since a child. She came down with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a virus that causes ascending paralysis, last January. She was in the hospital briefly, then got better and went home, then relapsed. The second time in the hospital, she went into respiratory distress (ARDS) and was on a ventilator for 9 weeks. She had to have a tracheostomy and a feeding tube. Rehab stays at the hospital and then to a nursing home followed, and she finally came home in October. Its been a rough year. She is slowly regaining the use of her legs, though her feet are still numb. Tree's spirit remains strong and all those years of dealing with JRA has taught her much. She was so grateful for everyone's support here, and prayers. Keep on praying! and Rob 16 Spondy On Wed, 11 Jan 2006 15:06:25 -0000 " sonia1md " <sonia1md@...> writes: Hi , I have just been thinking about Tree lately and wondering how her recovery has been going? Guest guest
, thanks so much for taking the time to give us an update...glad to hear that Tree is making some progress and I will be sure to pray that her lungs continue to get stronger! Tell her that we all said hi and would love for her to send a post if she ever feels up to it! When I think about miracles, i think about tree...I think about how things looked so very grave that one night when you came to the list and asked for every praying person to pray, and then very slowly she started to turn the corner...I am so thankful that her son and hubby get to enjoy her presence! :-) Blessings, sonia (aundrea 10 systemic jra)-- - In , " sonia1md " <sonia1md@y...> wrote: > > Hi , > > I have just been thinking about Tree lately and wondering how her > recovery has been going?
