Guest guest
Hi ette, I have 4 children and none of them have JRA. Knock on wood. No one else on either side of my family has RA of any form. I am the lucky one My onset was at 12 and I am now 35. I hope this group is for both because that is why I am here. Welcome to the group and it is great to have you. (Polyarticulate JRA 35) I have had JRA since age 2 I have three children but none have it. I am the only one in my family who had it. I was wondering is this just for children who have it or is it for adults that have and have had it since age 2? ette
Guest guest
Hi ette! my name is Donna and I have had JRA since age 4, now 40. This group is for anyone with an interest. I hope you stick around. There are wonderful people here and in my opinion the best place to be if you or your child has JRA. Donna
Guest guest
Hi Donna and thank you. I will stick around. Wow you too have had it young. It's so sad to see that little children are still getting it. I thought when I was so young that maybe by the time I wans older no other child would have to go through this. I have a couple of questions. 1) I still get very high fevers when I have a flair. Is this normal for our age? I did this as a child and most of my doctors would say as I got older I would not get fevers like this but just the pain. Well I still get them both. 2) My daughter doesn't have JRA but she has bad physrisis on her elboy and knee. A bunch of people told me she will get arthritis in those two joints. Is this true? Is this a form of passing it along to her? Well thank you all for letting me on your group and I hope we all are in much better health in 2006. Guest guest
Hi , I have three and none have it but the dermathologist told me since my daughter has Phrisis on her knee and elbow she could get a form of it. I too am the lucky one, no one else has or had any form of Arthritis. Did you get spiking high fevers? I sure did and as I get older my doctor keeps telling me I wont get that way again only have the pain but not the fevers. She also said that if I did get those fevers again that high I would not live through it. It had already damaged my heart a little and my lungs too. I have so many doctors of different sorts to see now on a monthly basis it's pathetic. ha ha ha Thank you so much. My biggest wish for this new year is they find something for this. hugs; paulette <brian.taylor@...> wrote: Hi ette, I have 4 children and none of them have JRA. Knock on wood. Guest guest
I never did get high fevers, but then again that was the last thing on my mind to check when I had a bad flare. I have recently paid more attention to my temperature and yes, I still get a 100 or 101 fever if I am really really bad off. I have had JRA since age 2 I have three children but none have it. Sorry cant help with this one but there are many others whom I know have had fevers. Donna
Guest guest
Hi Donna, I think I get a fever with anything. I would also either get a bad headache or a sore throat. I think that's why when I first got these and my parents took me to the ER and they thought it could be strep they gave me Penn. and though it did take the fever down it all came back within an hour or so after. I just hop I don't get fevers like that anymore. Hugs; paulette ajaoky@... wrote: I am the oddball. I have not had fevers and still do not. Guest guest
Yes me too I still will get low grade fevers up to 100 but not those that went with the bad flair. Yet the pain is awful at times. I have to learn not to push myself or that night or early in the morning I will shiver bad and shake alot and then my fever will go up. Just from the pain in one or two joints. Hugs; paulette <brian.taylor@...> wrote: I never did get high fevers, but then again that was the last thing on my mind to check when I had a bad flare. Guest guest
hey all, i have also has JRA since i was 2-3 yrs old. I am not 28. I still get the fevers but have ahd a lot of trouble finding doctors that understand /believe me. In phoenix, az I had no problem with doctors but since we moved to portland it has been alot harder on my body and with doctors. I have found that with the weather i have alot more prolems then i did in phoenix and hence al ot more fevers also. I was told that i should not have these any more and am pleased to find out i am not the only one. I have no children yet. But there are no other people with arthritis of any form in my family . I guess i am also lucky :-) hope your new year is off to a good start! gillianne Ginger Sunshine <pct777@...> wrote: Hi Donna, I think I get a fever with anything. Guest guest
Hi Gillianne, I love your name, by the way. I was just thinking, do you have systemic jra? If so, there's a group like this for Still's Disease (same as systemic) that is all adults that you may want to check out. Stacia
Guest guest
Hi Gillianne, Wow sounds like we are alot alike. Although I have three kids but even they don't have it either thank God for that. I was told that high humid days will cause me much pain and fever and yet cold and low humidity will make me feel so much better and no fevers. Is it very humid out there? Try some dry heat or cold. I can not take humid weather if it's hot or cold but I can surely say I never do good in the summer months while it's hot out here. I feel so much worst and don't even feel like getting out of bed and just blah! But in the cold weather I do just fine. I sure can feel for you with those pains and fevers. Guest guest
Have to chime in about the psoriasis. My oldest boy has this and my daughter has JRA. Yes, if you have psoriasis you can get a form of JRA called Psoriatic but it does not necessarily mean you will. JRA and Psoriasis are both autoimmune diseases so having a child with an autoimmune is not unexpected. If one member of a family has an autoimmune disease the chance that others in the family will too is very likely. Does that mean that you " passed it on " ? Not necessarily. They are still doing gene research to figure out what genes these diseases are on, why some carry a gene and it turns on but most that carry a gene susceptibility don't. So don't worry too much ette. e, mom to joe 19 poly + Ginger Sunshine <pct777@...> wrote: Hi Donna and thank you. I will stick around. Wow you too have had it young. Guest guest
Oh wow! Well thank you so much for this insight. I am glad however she has this and not what I have. I just pray that this doesn't turn into anything more later in her life. She sees a dermathologist regulary and we use what ever the doctor gives her. Thank you; ette bound for london <boundforlondon@...> wrote: Have to chime in about the psoriasis. My oldest boy has this and my daughter has JRA.
