Hi Dorene,

I hope your daughter continues to improve her seizure disorder. You might want

to do a search on Zonegran side effects and see if you can do anything to

address them, such as supplements to make up for any nurtients depleted by the

medication. Your pharmacist should have this information or be able to look it

up for you.

Are your keto doctors giving you and your daughter any help in developing a

diet for her to maintain as she weans off the keto diet?

There was at least on nutritionist on one of the Atkins4Seizures support group.

There are a lot of nice folks there so maybe they will have some ideas and

support for you too. Over all the years she suffered, was she evaluated for

celiac disease? I don't have it, but am gluten intolerant and getting the gluten

out of my diet did make a very big improvement in my seizure frequency. This

sensitivity\celiac disease.

For all the frustrations, it is important to keep picking up where we left off,

to do what we can to maintain in normal life and do what we want to do,

regardless any obstacles from the seizure disorder. It sounds like your daughter

is taking charge of her situation. I wish her the best.

extremely helpful was learning relaxation and breathing techniques and going on

a gluten and lactose free diet.

many options to explore for managing seizures and overcoming them with or

without medication. Had I understood more about nutrition and how the drugs

could make my condition worse, the seizures may have never gotten so severe that

surgery seemed to be the only hope. A lot of people are told this when there are

many options that may be safer.
