Guest guest
Hi Pepper, When I first discontinued all prescription medication, I was unsure of my degree of success. I knew immediately that I had more energy from the vitamins and or nutritional change, but I was unsure if I would have seizures in the future. After a month on this new nutritional change I was looking for new things to do with my increased energy level. I started a running program and worked up to running 6 miles after about 3 months. But then I began to trigger a seizure when I ran at top speed for over 5 miles. This happened only when I ran, but did occur a few times from 1979 until February 1986, when I had my last seizure. After that I learned how to monitor my mental control capacities while running. This involved being able to mentally compute my projected running time by adding my projected goal pace for the next mile to my actual split time (the time that my watch recorded completion of the last mile), then if I was able to do that I could continue, or else slow down and walk. Fortunately this worked and I did not have any more seizures after 1986. I am still running, and did not have to walk in a race until a race in June of 2008, on a very humid day, I had to stop and walk in a 4 mile race in Central Park after the 3 mile mark. My mind was no longer clear. Looking back on it, I probably did not consider it a cure, until I had gone over a year, without a seizure, but the ones I had while running over 5 miles, kept it complicated for my assessment of complete recovery or " cure. " I did think those seizures while running were in a separate category from the seizures I had before when I was AED's. Arnold **************It's only a deal if it's where you want to go.
