Hyperbaruc Oxygen has been used to reverse damage from strokes.

Hi Shaggy in GA,

Dr. Rowen,MD in his newsletter Second Opinion, June 2003 writes

about some of the other uses of this underused therapy. website

HBO has been used successfully to reverse damage from strokes for years. It

is best to get to a hospital with a hyperbaric chamber as soon as possible,

but improvements have been reported as late as 5 years after the stroke. It is

still worth a try. A number of professional sports teams and horse trainers

use hyperbaric oxygen chambers for wound healing and injuries, they have to

get athlete's back in the line-up or the team and owners lose big money.

The FDA has given limited approval for HBO decompression sickness (the

bends),osteomyelits (bone disease), poorly healing wounds and carbon monoxide

poisoning. Within these limits the medical community usually does not take

advantage of the allowed or indicated treatments, the provision for wound

healing

is a huge opening that is just not used enough. HBO does not have the high

profit incentive of drug companies to push the information to busy physicians.

If used after surgery healing would be much better and faster. The FDA has

approved a low pressure " mild " HBO fabric chamber for usein high altitude

sickness. The latest research shows the lower pressure achieved in these HBO

fabic

chambers is sufficient. A recent study found it helpful with cerebral palsy,

patients confined to a wheelchair for 15 years were able to walk after a

seies of HBO treatments.SPECT scans of special brain metabolism have shown

improvement in cellular function with mild pressure alone. Dr.Ricard Neubauer

has

used low pressure HBO at 1.4 ATA(atmospheres) where sea level is 1.0 ATA for

Multiple Sclerosis. Portable chambers now make it much easier and hopefully

cheaper to get HBO.FDA approved it for in home use and the patient can have

the chamber. The chamber comes with an oxygen concentrator. Combined with mild

pressure elevation of 1.3-1.4 ATA, tissue concentration makes the level needed

for optimal healing. Scuba divers can rig up a mld HBO chamber by diving

down 10 feet in a pool andbreathing froma tank of 100% oxygen for an hour

session. This is about 1.3 ATA. This may explain the miraculous healing at the

Dead

Sea. At 1,340 feet below sea level, additional air pressure 24 hours a day

might provide enough extra compresed oxygen gas to cause significant

revitaization.

In order to purchase a mild HBO chamber you will need a doctor's

prescrption. Information on mild HBO chambers can be obtained from Oxy Health
