Guest guest
, I have found that VitaCost in FL. is the best. They wholesale deliver to you often for less than the brands you buy at the stores and have a impressive medical staff that formulates very well. Another brand that I use often is Life Extension. I trust both brands. The Life Extension membership is worth the reading materials that you get from them as well. The have a quite large protocol book that has an Epilespy section in it as well. However, their products are expensive. With membership they are far less. I think their quality is very good. I would never give my child the brands that you mentioned. I am using the cheap Nature Made brand for both vitamins. She is getting 25 mg B6 three times a day with her main meals (so 75 mg daily). I am giving her 50 mcg B12 before breakfast only (I read that B12 should be given on an empty stomach.) My daughter is almost 7 and weighs about 50 lb. I am wondering if I should stay with this brand that is already helping her, or try her on a more expensive/better quality brand? We tried multivitamins for her, and she had an increase in seizures possibly from the extra iron in those vitamins. I am now cautious about what I give her and how much. She is on Depakote and Topamax and controlled pretty well. Thank you in advance for your help,

Good Hunting, ----------- Why do you say this? Is there an ingredient added/not added or contaminants in the brand she mentioned? I looked at the VitaCost website specifically for B6 and I didn't see anything listed under their own brand name. They did, however, list the Nature's Way mentioned and Carlson, which is what we use. The Life Extension brand is only a few cents more (for members) than what I pay for Carlson. Neither website offered a liquid version of B6. My dd is only 4, so liquid is the only way we can go right now. Do you know of a better brand that sells a liquid B6? __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Tina, Carlson is a good brand. For about 12 years I was involved with designing packaging for the wine and natural foods industry. I spent hundreds of hours looking at natural foods companies and their approach to marketing. I attended dozens of natural foods shows, mostly the western one in Anaheim each year where I talked to the owners of different companies for a variety of reasons. When you do this you get broad feelings about which companies really care about their products and which ones are just marketing and using suppliers to manufacture products to a very fast growing, and profitable audience. I tell you this because I believe that we all should know where are information " is coming from. " I have been out of this loop for about ten years but now am an avid, educated consumer like yourself. The one positive thing that I found about the Natural Foods Industry as a whole is that they are usually very transparent about their products and the ingredients in them. Their marketing staffs usually are very patient with consumers who want detailed explanations of their products and the ingredients in them. So, I would urge you to go to the source at all times to verify information that you receive at any other outlet. The reason I say Carlson is a good product is that it is a company that is run by a family. And for what I remember, is going to be run that way for the near future. I met them several times and talked to the daughters and the father at one time as I remember. They present as ethical and caring people who really care about what they are marketing to the public. They were very approachable and had a small size booth at Anaheim where you could go and talk directly to the family members. I was always leery of companies that were walled with marketing teams that came at you with their smiles and efforts to size you up quickly to whether you were of any value for their time. This is not to say that larger companies can not produce quality products--both VitaCost and Life Extension would be considered larger companies in my reasoning here. There is no magic, or logical analyze to my comment. Just a feeling from tromping around, wearing out expense shoes and feeling the vitamins in the air sort of intuitive reasoning here, along with volumes of reading that may be a bit outdated. Guest guest
I give my daughter the same - Nature Made or the store brand (Wild Oats Market) - is there really much difference? Has anyone out there been using B6 + B12 long term and if so, how much and for how long?
