Guest guest
I'm a caregiver to a mother with Alzheimer's and a brother who has in the last year and a half suffered from complex partial seizures. The first two seizure occurrences did not result in any harm but the third ended up with him hitting his head and suffering a gash on his brow. He seemed to have a seizure once every four weeks. My brother is 44 years old and has never suffered from any other ailments. He was a marathon runner and is in great physical shape. He is under the belief that a sleeping disorder has caused all of this. He has in the past slept only four to five hours a night on average and has said he never achieved a good and restful sleep. He also inverted his sleep and slept mostly from dawn to noon. He has concentrated on good sleep and he seemed to prolonged the span between seizures to approximately one in every three months. But an illness had my mother in the hospital which created chaos in his sleep again. I felt his seizure aura building as my mother was discharged after two weeks and now he seems to suffer a small seizure everyday. Just today he seemed to suffer a fade out every time he got up (at least four in six hours.) I can't convince him to take meds. He believes the doctor will keep him on meds for life. Can complex partial seizures disappear with a life style change? His personality type is stress filled. He is wound up like a spring that's ready to pop. He talks like a run on sentence sometimes. I can't get him to clam down. What can I do? Is he in denial about the medications? Will they help his case? Does biofeedback work? Thanking you in advance for your help.
