Guest guest
sometimes at night when i fall asleep i will have what i think are dreams, like i will hear my son talk to me, or see my husband walk through the house, but i will feel like i'm wide awake like i'm not dreaming. could that be in part because of my seizures? Guest guest
- Hi Becky, With temporal lobe seizures any of our senses can be affected. What you describe sounds like auditory hallucinations, hearing sounds that are not really happening. I used to hear someone playing the flute-- pretty music, even if it wasn't " real. " I hope you don't worry about it too much, if it doesn't seem harmful. You can have " hallucinations " involving any of the senses. I used to smell weird odors or think the toast were burning, weird stuff like that. When they happen have you tried just doing some slow quiet breathing and getting yourself really calm? That can stop this type of seizure because it helps relax the blood vessels in the brain which constrict when a seizure starts. Do you think you might be low on calcium or magnesium? Low levels of these minerals can affect your perceptions also and lower your seizure threshold.
