Guest guest
Zoe, sometimes I think I have to be hit in the head 10 times with something before it sticks. I was had my brain trying to figure out my daughter's puzzle one way and so I didn't think the Vit D thing was relevant for her (even though you pegged it at the end of Dec.) Her remaining symptoms were: 1) 'yuckies' in her mouth that continued to increase in intensity, travel up, sometimes cause her to vomit, and eventually create 'lock jaw'. 2) pain in her bladder and urethra (all discomfort ends during and when she voids) it is NOT bladder infection, she's been checked for years. I just assumed her bladder pain was acidity, or yeast. But then I did a ph dip of her urine and it was '7'. Mark Schauss is running another analysis on her system for me so I emailed him the ph and asked, " Isn't that alkaline? " He replied, " It's neutral " . On went my thinking cap. She has been dairy free since I was pregnant. The D supplement my Dr. told me to give to her while nursing constipated her and since she already struggled with cholic I didn't give it to her. Her symptoms have always appeared to us as she is not absorbing her Ca or Mg. 1.5 years ago I put her on a Ca supplement without D because of the amines the D contains (failsafe diet). In Nov. she was again waking, screaming with leg pain, so I put her on a Ca with D and it dealt with her leg pain! Isn't the bladder a muscle?! Could her bladder stuff be Vit D deficiency? Her worst time of year for the last 3 years is Jan and Feb (We live in Canada and spend winter in doors-in the summer I have to keep her cool because body temp increases destabilize her-I also tried to aviod sun screen because of the chemicals and so stay out of the sun a lot in summer any way. She had cracks in her toes from age 14 months to 4.5 years, until I read all that Arnold had to say about Vit. B complex, after that her toes healed up in less than 2 weeks. After giving her 1/2 an adult dose for almost a year her cracks returned, so I increased her dose. BUT B's need to be carried by D's and she had just been on 3 months of mineral oil, which inhibits A, D, K & ? I increased her Vit D from the 600 IU she was getting in other vitamins to a total of 1400 IU. The next day her 'yuckies' were gone (now for 8 days in a row) and prior to that she had struggled with it for about 10 days in a row (unnerving for me because that was an increase in frequency. Her bladder pain has eased enough that she can fall asleep and stay asleep now. (For the last 2 months the pain has been so uncomfortable we've had to massage her feet to help her relax enough to sleep. Also if she woke she holler of the bathroom to pee and if is was 5:00 am or later she was not sleepy enough to sleep through the pain.) The pain no longer disturbs her sleep! She has some day time discomfort in her urethra, but we will see, maybe with time that will take care of itself. Get this, I then read that D is needed for proper elimination. She is on a ketogenic diet, and on lactulose so she doesn't constipate, I was constantly struggling to get the right consistency in her bowels. The D took care of it!?! It balanced her out so well I had to reduce the lactulose. Then last week she started a fever, and looked extremely unstable. I remembered that one of your articles talked about unresolved febrile seizures so I added another 400 IU's of D (total 1800) all week. She had one more shakey time, but I think we've made it. Thank you for being so persistent, and continually bringing up the D 'stuff' keep it up. She is on trileptal and topamax still. Weaning as proven to be very difficult because she gets little 'rumblings' very easily-maybe now she will be more stable and better able to tolerate the decreases. I'll keep you posted. How much D is it safe to give to her, and for how long at those rates. I think she's been deficient in them her entire life, and it could very well be what caused this entire nightmare in the first place. I'm sure you've done more reading on this subject than anyone else on this planet right now, and if my doctor never even ran a test on her to check this stuff they certainly can't begin to help me with dosages. It's late and I'm tired I hope this made sense, and I sure never thought one Vit could effect so much for her, Barb
