Any idea on how to ween him off milk? +++Hi Tina, will probably write to you too, but I think you shouldn't try to take his milk away from him until you get back to Australia. He is old enough to get all of the nutrients his body needs from foods on this diet (without needing milk) and he should be getting supplements recommended for his age in this article: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/baby.php But don't try to make changes now. Diarrhea isn't a bad thing, however I understand it can be alarming. If you make sure he gets enough fluids he should be okay, but staying on milk for now should do it. Also his own body creates any bacteria, as needed, in order to get rid of toxins, and I doubt the milk is the main source of those toxins. I know diarrhea can't be so harmful since my brother had it for over 20 years and yet he was able to get healthy on my program and he is 63 years old. All the best, Bee
Guest guest
Hi Tina, I think weaning is difficult for most children. They are sad to lose their comfort things. But it sounds like it's a good time to get rid of the milk if he's not tolerating it anymore. The key is consistency. If you keep at it long enough and are consistent, they will learn that this is the new standard and they will eventually get over it. I think you should try giving him Bee's egg drink. I can't remember if you are able to get coconut oil or not, but you could make it with just butter. The recipe is on Bee's website. http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/recipes/recipe167.php There is also the Weston A Price recipe for homemade baby formula, but that might not be necessary since he's older. http://www.westonaprice.org/childrens-health/319-recipes-for-homemade-baby-formu\ la.html If he is thirsty, he will drink. Perhaps a little squeeze of lemon or lime juice in his water might make it more appealing. Just don't go overboard on the amount of lemon or lime juice since some people don't tolerate it well in the beginning. Hope that helps! Guest guest
I think mentioned the egg drink--- I weaned my daughter off milk by slowly switching her over and mixing the two adding less and less milk. It took about 48 hours and she didn't even notice! Good luck! in VA ________________________________ From: Tina therese Englmayr <dancingintherain85@...> Sent: Tue, February 22, 2011 10:48:58 AM Subject: [ ] How to ween an 18 month old from milk? I'll have to find my baby formula, which was posted on the group quite awhile ago, and get it posted on my website and the group. : ) Luv & Hugs, Bee
Guest guest
Hi Bee, I thought that maybe it would be still okay as a drink for a toddler who is already getting most of their nutrients from food. But if you don't want me to recommend the WAPF formulas to anyone, then I won't. ) > > > There is also the Weston A Price recipe for homemade baby formula, but that might not be necessary since he's older. > > http://www.westonaprice.org/childrens-health/319-recipes-for-homemade-baby-formu\ la.html > > Hi , > > Maybe you missed it, but I do not recommend any of the baby formulas at WAPF for so many good reasons. Formula : 4 Cups goats milk, 4 C water minus 4 tblsp, 2 tsp Extra Virgin Olive oil, 1 tsp coconut oil, 4 tsp gelatin, 1 tsp butter and 4 tsp yeast flakes. For other people's information, the goats milk can be purchased at the health food store. Even if the milk is pasteurized its still acceptable and beneficial.
