Grapefruit Seed Extract....If you have chronic fatigue, or candida,

add this to your list of supplements. Add it even if you don't!

This is a liquid extract which has a very, very bitter taste. I

shudder from the bitterness of this supplement, and for this reason,

it is very hard to be compliant with taking this regularly. However,

the potential benefits from taking this supplement warrant the

serious consideration of using it daily, especially when fighting

fungal infections such as candida. It is suggested to mix it in

either water or juice, one to three times daily. The more severe

your problem, the more frequent you should take it.

This is also a very reasonably priced antibacterial, antifungal,

antiviral agent. I know that costs of medicines and supplements is a

concern for most of us, but this is one that all of you can afford.

I got mine from the local health food store, and you can also order

it on the Internet. The bottle I have is from Nutribiotic, The

Original GSE (Grapefruit Seed Extract) Liquid concentrate from

certified organically grown grapefruit, and for a 2 ounce bottle, I

paid less than $10. You use 5-15 drops per dosage, so this 2 ounce

bottle will actually go a long way.

The amount of info on the web about GSE is daunting, so I will try to

post the significant highlights about it.

GSE products will remain stable for an indefinite period, as long as

they are not contaminated in some way, thus allowing for a long shelf

life.

Because of the action of GSE on bacteria, it is suggested to

supplement with pro-biotics such as acidophilus. While it is believed

that GSE does not damage beneficial intestinal bacteria at normal

doses, there are no clinical studies to document this. There is no

evidence that any type of micro-organism has ever developed a

resistance to Citricidal or Nutribiotic grapefruit extracts. In fact

it is believed that such resistance is not possible because of GSE's

mode of activity. Because GSE actually disrupts the cytoplasmic

membrane, changes in genetic make-up in the pathogenic organism would

be irrelevant. What is still not known is how GSE can be effective

against viruses, inasmuch as a virus has no cell membrane of its own.

Grapefruit extract is not like pharmaceutical antibiotics where a 10-

day exposure is all that is warranted. You can safely take GSE over a

long period, if needed, without any worry of toxicity. There are

reports of people taking GSE every day for years(as a preventative)

without side-effects of any kind.

Grapefruit seed extract can be purchased in powder form as well,

called " Citricidal " . However, the drying agent in Citricidal® Powder

GSE is silicon dioxide, which we might want to avoid. On the other

hand, some people may not be able to stand the bitterness of the

liquid, and the powder might be the only way to get it down!

It is general knowledge that bacteria and viruses cause a great

variety of internal and external disease conditions. The extent to

which this is also true of parasites and fungi(like candida yeast) is

just gradually being recognized. Symptoms from parasites and fungi

may be identical to those caused by bacteria or virus. False

diagnoses result in ineffective treatment. Grapefruit Seed Extract

(GSE) is the only product available with broad-spectrum effectiveness

against virtually all microorganisms, and deserves to become the

first line of defense in many applications. GSE is also a great " team

player " . It works well along side other herbal or pharmaceutical

remedies without any known interactivities or contraindications. GSE

does not interfere with the activity of homeopathic remedies, nor

does it damage the beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract, at

normal dosages. (It is believed GSE's low pH may be the reason.)

Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) is a broad spectrum antimicrobial

compound synthesized in a unique process from the seeds and pulp of

grapefruits. The final product is a combination of naturally

occurring elements including bioflavonoids, amino acids, fatty acids,

saccharides, phenolic compounds, tocopherols, ascorbic acid and

dehydroascorbic acid. In 1979, Dr. Harich documented the

extraordinary anti-microbial properties of a certain fraction of the

seeds and membranous material of grapefruits. Further research by

prestigious independent laboratories confirmed its ability to combat

a broad range of bacteria, yeast (including candida), parasites,

(Amoeba, Giardia, etc.) and even some viruses. One of the most

important applications for Grapefruit Extract is in the support and

protection of individuals with chronic immune system problems (AIDS,

Chronic Fatigue, and Candida patients). Physicians have reported

excellent results when using Grapefruit Seed Extract products for the

following situations (but not limited to): Acne, AIDS, Athletes Foot,

Belching, Candida, Chronic Fatigue, Cold Sores, Cuts/Wounds,

Dandruff, Deodorant, Diarrhea, Ear Inflammation/Pain, Flus & Colds,

Food Poisoning, Gassiness, Gum Problems, Herpes, Jock Itch, Cracked

Lips, nail Fungus, Parasites, Plaque-Tooth, Poison Ivy/Poison Oak,

Ringworm, Shaving Itch, Sinusitis, Sore Throat, Thrush, Toothbrush

Cleaning, Viruses, Warts.
