Guest guest
Hey Corinna, I notice you mentioned that are avoiding carbs besides the occasional fruit. Just wondering you are making sure to get enough fat? I ask because even after many months of thinking I was on this diet 100%, I didn't realize I not only needed coconut oil but butter in my diet as well. There may be things you are missing, or misunderstanding. For instance, if you've been on the diet for this long, you should no longer have to be performing coffee enemas. Just checking things from all angles. I hope you find the relief you are looking for... Regards, > > I feel completely helpless. I am 30 years old, which means I should be healed or at least close to healed in 30 months according to Bee. I know that everyone is different, but I am in agony here. I have been on bee's diet for officially 16 months. However, I started the SCD diet with my family 3 years ago. SCD is very similar to bee's diet, but it allows fruit and honey. However, when I started SCD I knew that I could not eat fruit or honey b/c of my yeast. So, even though my kids ate them, I did not. I did have an occasional helping on special occasions, but that was it. So I honestly feel that technically I have been on bee's diet for 3 years, I just didn't know I was doing it. I only had the occasional cheats of fruit and they were even small servings. I have NEVER cheated worse than that. According to Bee small cheats should not halt your progress b/c of all of the good that you are feeding your body. So I don't understand why I am still in agony!! I have surpassed my 30 months and am not even close to being healed. When I started SCD I noticed a huge improvement. My brain fog completely disappeared, my fatigue decreased, and energy increase. But my vaginal infections never went away, nor my nipple thrush. They have been constant for the last three years. Guest guest
Hi Corinna, I was on SCD before too. It didn't help at all. I've been on this diet for a few months and I just realized that I wasn't getting enough salt. 1 1/2 teaspoons is really more than you think! Adding enough salt really seemed to help me, so I would suggest doing some more reading here to see if there is anything missing. The supplements in the correct amounts really made a difference for me over the SCD diet. I also have a hard time keeping the fat intake so high every day. Kim > > > > I feel completely helpless. The SCD is very different from my program and that's why so many people come here after trying it. The major difference is the high " good " fats, cod liver oil, lower carbs, and many others of course. It's the good fats on my program that are very important! Of course all of the nutrients, including supplements, on my program work together. +++You say you switched to my program - so how long have you been on it, since it takes time to heal and detoxify naturally, and the SCD doesn't do what my program does. What difference do you expect to have? > > I don't know what to do. I feel totally helpless. I feel like I'm doing all of this for nothing. Guest guest
I do not eat fruit at all anymore. When I started SCD 3 years ago I had fruit only on holidays as a treat and even then is was like 2 apple slices or a couple strawberries at a time. Since I discovered Bee's diet 1 1/2 years ago I haven't had any at all. Basically on when I started SCD I was only eating meat and veggies, I started only cooking with coconut oil. I was taking coconut oil a few times a day as an antifungal as well as a drop of oregano oil each day. (I stopped the oregano oil once I started bee's program b/c she said it wasn't necessary). I also stopped taking probiotics for the same reason. On SCD was not eating butter, but once I found bee's diet I stated eating it again. I was even taking supplements pretty close to bee's program but as soon as I discovered her program I adjusted them to be correct. I honestly was on her diet probably 90% of the way before I even discovered it. So for 1 1/2 years I was doing it 90%, plus 1 1/2 years 100%. Even if I am missing something or doing something wrong the amount of time that I have been doing this I should be healed more than I am. Don't you think? Bee is constantly telling people that even when they cheat their healing is not backtracked b/c they are still feeding their bodies the nutrients it needs to heal and detoxify. But I haven't even been cheating for the last 1 1/2 years and even before that it was very miniscule amounts every few months. I have been giving my body the proper nutrients for 3 years but am only slightly better for it. Also, I haven't been doing coffee enemas from the beginning. I actually just started them about 4 months ago b/c I still wasn't better. I thought that maybe it was what I was missing. I was hoping that they would make the difference I needed. > > Hey Corinna, > > I notice you mentioned that are avoiding carbs besides the occasional fruit. Guest guest
Kim, Yes, once I found bee's program I increased my salt and all of my supplements are where they should be. I have read through everything it seems like a million times looking for what I'm missing, but can't find anything. Corinne > > Hi Corinna, > > I was on SCD before too. Guest guest
Ok, I think I need to re explain my situation without labels, b/c even when I was on SCD I wasn't eating everything it allowed b/c I knew I shouldn't. For 3 years I have been eating nothing but meat and veggies. For the first year and a half I had maybe a 1/4 cup of fruit on holidays. I was also eating almond and pecan butters, but after a 1 1/2 years I stopped eating those too. I was eating a lot of coconut oil. It is the only oil I cook with. 3 years ago I also started taking cod liver oil as well as calcium and magnesium. I wasn't eating butter, but then added 1 1/2 years ago and readjusted my supplements and food ratios to be perfectly in line with your program. However, when doing so I was happy to see that I was already eating very close to what I should be. I just feel like I have been on your diet 90% of the way for a year and a half and 100% of the way for the last year and a half that I should be healed by now. But I still have CONSTANT vaginal infections, nipple thrush, headaches including migraines a few times a month, my energy level is better than before but I am still not where I should be. I feel only slightly better than before I started dieting. Honestly I expected to be healed by now or at least not being in constant agony everyday anymore. Diastasis Recti is a disorder defined as a separation of the rectus abdominis muscle into right and left halves. Normally, the two sides of the muscle are joined at the linea alba at the body midline. However, my linea alba was ripped in half therefore my abdominals no longer are connected in the center of my stomach, instead they lay open and stay at my sides. No longer have core support and have constant back problems. They are very week as they cannot work together. I cannot even lift 2 milk jugs without hurting myself. Also when I lay on my stomach there is a huge gapping hole where the abs should be and I can actually see my intestines under the the skin. My stomach is also very tender b/c there is no protection from my abdominals. If my toddler jumps on my lap and knees me in the stomach it is extremely painful. Since this condition I have also noticed that my bowels move very slowly, whether they are hard or soft they are very hard to pass b/c I have no muscles to help push them out. I am assuming that this cannot be good as it allows waste to stay in my body longer than it should. I understand your feelings about the fillings. I've read all the articles on your website. I understand the natural healing process. However, since I have not healing after doing this for so long, I thought that maybe it could be the problem since I have so many. Practically every tooth in my mouth has amalgam in them and some of them are huge. I just thought that maybe my small little body is just too overburdened that it just can't heal. I'm just looking for answers. I have been doing this for 3 years and had such little progress that there must be something more that I need to do. I really appreciate all the help this forum has been, I have learned so much and I feel like this is the only place I can go for help at this point, but I am starting to give up hope and I do not know what to do next. Guest guest
'How can this diet not heal almost any ailment given proper motivation and time?' I think this from my own experiences and what I see here on the board - it's not often someone comes along like this and convinces me they are on the diet 100% and still not getting the relief they deserve. Then I think... there may be things that not every individual can control. In my case, I had bad teeth growing up as a child - as well as the structure of my nose is not optimal for breathing. This may be causing certain issues associated with 'health' - e.g. I sleep with my mouth open - maybe I don't get the best quality sleep and some mental healing during sleep becomes an issue. Perhaps my body goes into flight or fight response easier then normal because I breath through my mouth unconsciously, etc. Due to the structure of my nose, these may be things that I can no longer control. What about organs, and brain function? If serious malnutrition is present while growing up, perhaps the organs/brain don't develop properly - and once we hit a certain age, these organs no longer deviate from how they are. This could cause health problems that one can no longer control. This is a theory and it certainly sounds disconcerting - but at least we are doing are very best to make ourselves as healthy as possible - I couldn't ask anymore of myself in that regard. I'd also like to think that with this knowledge, my children, and grandchildren will be given the best opportunity to live suffer-less from any health complications. This makes finding Bee's website 3 times as important then most would think! Thoughts? > > > +++Hi Corinne. Guest guest
Corrine, Maybe you are sick for reasons other than nutrition. Emotional issues can directly impact our health. Even medical science is finally admitting the mind-body connection. I recently read that one study found that a majority of women with breast cancer, to give one example, had trouble expressing themselves, asserting boundaries, etc. Maybe you need to ask yourself if there is some emotional imbalance you need to address. Also, indigenous peoples worldwide traditionally had a rich shamanic culture (in addition to eating proper nutrition). This culture views sickness as a spiritual issue--it could be negative energy sent on the sick person by other persons or entities, or the person could have " lost " a part of their spirit or soul, due to trauma. There are still shamans practicing today that address this. I spent time in Peru, participating in shamanic ceremonies, and met many people who swear they recovered from illness from this kind of intervention. I don't know how you feel about these ideas, but just throwing out some ideas... Guest guest
Hi Corrine, we too were on scd for a couple of years and then moved on to Gaps inbetween. We found a tremendous difference in our healing coming here. The biggest as Bee says is the fats, were you really on those sorts of ratios on scd? One thing I could suggest which has really worked for us has been replacing butter for ghee, I think some people with really compromised guts can not process any lactose. We all went into a big healing crissis when we came off it. Same also went for the lemon, which again we weren't tolerating. I only suggest these extreme measures for people in trouble long term with the diet, and actually there are very few of them. Its difficult to estimate how poorly you are with chronic illness and therefore how far you have to go. My daughter was very very obviously poorly, but everything that she has had trouble with I do too. We spend most of our energy in the kitchen on fats and preparing the softest and most digestible meats. We care less and less about the veg and infact have recently experimented with not having any - and feel fabulous! Do you eat plenty of eggs and fish? Are you taking your hcl in the right dose? All the best .. >
Guest guest
, I have actually been thinking that it might be emotional stress that is keeping me this way. Candida has really thrown a huge dent in my marriage. I am constantly tired and sick, and have constant vaginal issues therefore it is EXTREMELY difficult to be intimate in any way. My husband is amazing and takes such good care of me. But he is not feeling loved at all w/ the lack of intimacy. We try to do things together for him (sorry if its too much info) but it still isn't quite the same. We also can't enjoy the things we used to do together. We always used to cook together, but he has no interest in doing it anymore with this diet. He loves to bake, but there really is not much baking on this diet. We loved going out to eat and trying new foods, but thats not an option. He really has been very supportive, but it still doesn't fix things. Both of our " buckets " are empty and we just can't seem to fill them. Not to mention we have 3 young children, one that is autistic, also on the diet. Our life is super stressful and we just can't seem to find any rest or relief. Which unfortunately seems like it will never end until I am better, but I can't get better if I'm under constant stress, so its just a vicious cycle. Corinne > > > > > > > +++Hi Corinne. Guest guest
OH MY GOODNESS. I have not been following this post and just happen to glance at the part about diastasis recti! I have the same thing! I, too, am very thin. I've been very thin and very strong my whole life. I attributed my diastasis to not only the thinness, but also that I did pullups (my own bodyweight) throughout the entire pregnancy. I actually did 2 pullups the day before I went into labor. I think the extra weight from gravity thru my abdomen from hanging, not to mention the pull thru the abs, lats, etc. during the pullups was enough to tear my muscles up! Why I did that, I'm not sure. Because I could and it became a game. For my second child I was much more careful and conscious as to how I used by body. None the less, if I get the slightest bit of bloating (eat the wrong thing, experience healing reactions, for example) my stomach will look 6 months pregnant. I do not get constipated but I think that is because I have done so much healing before I ever had kids. I also take extra magnesium at night that I think helps keep things moving smoothly. I feel as though I, too, don't have the counter pressure as you so perfectly described!!! Anyway, just thought you may want to know you are not crazy when it comes to this. My midwife/homeopath says it's something I should have had fixed yesterday. She says you can have just the diastasis sewn up orthoscopically, so no big incision. I plan to research the options this year and think about it. She had hers done and said it was fine. She did no antibiotics and only did homeopathy to recover! Then perhaps this may play a role due to their mother's health status at the time of pregnancy and birth. Although women acquire this structural injury more, men can also acquire it as well. And yes, abdominal damage will effect the back as well in varying degree and thus will cause strength imbalance. Since the back is the opposing connective muscle it will try to compensate. And yes, it has been reported to have an impact on the digestive & elimination process for some people. Depending on the severity of their injury. Nonetheless, after researching & skimming a forum or two, it seems seeking a qualified Women's Health Physio / Physiotherapist to give you appropriate exercises to strenghten your pelvic floor, deep abdominal and back muscles is a good first step. These exercises are proven to improve back pain as well as incontinence(lack of bladder or bowel control). Albeit, it may not improve the look or feel of those big gaps but you will be helping to decrease your back pain and tone the deeper abdominals which will help you feel better. Unfortunately surgery is required for unresolved big gaps that worry you aesthetically. Some women have also reported some relief wearing a spandex like abdominal binder found at a surgical supply store or back supports. However, this is not a long term solution and should not be practiced long term neither. Although acceptable short term or occasionally. Medical Insurance will not usually cover this injury unfortunately, since it is considered cosmetic. The exception is if your Diastasis Recti condition qualifies as a necessary procedure i.e it relates to digestive/elimination problems or pain that alters your quality of life according to your physician.... then Medical Insurance may cover a percentage of the corrective/cosmetic surgery. Lastly, doing abdominal exercises i.e situps or weight lifting type exercises is NOT RECOMMENDED at this point. Since this can worsen the situation. Of course nutrition is also important in regards to ALL muscle damage & repair and it has a role in prevention too. As a caveat, women should never do direct abdominal exercises i.e situps, crunches ..etc, during their pregnancy, since this makes them more prone to this type of injury. Guest guest
Corinne, After I read this, something clicked and I can understand exactly how you feel. I was on birth control pills for 10 years and then had two children, struggling with candida and young children and had thyroid issues. So I can understand your exhaustion. I think that my working on my emotional issues may have helped everything for my physical healing to fall into place. Some of the things that I did were EFT (do a search on the internet), yoga, breathing exercises (sounds like nothing, but they do work) Bee has some on her website and Weil has some and there are DVDs to follow along with meditation, I read Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth. The breathing exercises are the cheapest and you just need to be consistent with them and they will start working. Can you make a date night once a month with your husband and find someone to watch the kids you can trust? I lost two husbands with all my craziness and brain fog and hormonal disruptions (not that I picked the most supportive ones to begin with) so I would definitely make that relationship a priority. I think that eating out once a month shouldn't halt your progress. Many people have mentioned about keeping the cheating confined to a two hour window and not having it hurt their healing. I have gone out to eat and not eaten the best choice and have been ok. I just seem to detox more after doing it. We can't live like prisoners all our lives, can we? I had went to many doctors and natural doctors and this diet was the one that I can actually feel that my hormones are finally not going crazy. Can you afford to go to a spa for an afternoon or something? Make some time for yourself even though I know it's very hard to do. Oprah has these inspirational emails that you can sign up for and they give little tips about how to make yourself a priority, which is very important if have others to care for. Taking an epsom salt bath can give you time to yourself as well. I'm just throwing things out there and I know I've mentioned a lot. If you can start with just one thing and move forward from there, you will see a difference. And if something isn't working for you, then just move on to the next thing. No big deal. As your kids get older, the physical energy required to take care of them does subside. I know that doesn't help now. Look for the joy in the small things and start being grateful for what you do have. Hey, you've found Bee already! It took me 10 years to find her. The fact that you are looking to stop this cycle means that you are already starting to heal. Kim > > , > > I have actually been thinking that it might be emotional stress that is keeping me this way. Guest guest
Hi, I too feel as though the diet is not working as well as it should - my digestion is awful at the moment and has got progressively worse - to the extent that I now have gastroparesis - food sitting in my stomach for hours (last night I ate at around 6pm and my stomach didn't empty until 3am this morning - and all I had was pureed chicken and broccoli with the veg water!!! It is keeping me awake - most nights I am not asleep until at least 2am and I am exhausted. You may have something with the butter. That has been a constant right through the 2 years of the SCD followed by the last 9 months I have been on Bee's Diet. I have tried not having butter in the past for maybe a week or so but maybe I was not off it long enough to see any real difference. I have some ghee in the fridge, and I am also thinking of getting some goats' butter to use instead, as the s-beta 1 protein in that apparently does not trigger reactions like the s-alpha 1 protein in cows milk. I am not absorbing the nutrition as I feel I should be and the butter could be driving continuous damage in my gut. It is very common that those with Celiac Disease also have issues with casein and the proteins in soy and corn, as well as gluten. Until I can get my digestion working properly, I can't hope to be healing anything like I should be at this stage. Ali. > All the best > > . > > >
+++Hi Corrine, You haven't been getting the high good fats in combination with supplements like I recommend. It's the high good fats that make a big difference. All of the nutrients work together and your fats, protein and carbs must be in the correct ratios. That's why you calculate protein, fat and carb ratios using these two references: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/foods8.php http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/foods9.php All the best, Bee
Guest guest
Dear Corinne, Your condition may not be able to be reversed. However, even if you do not heal completely, or according to what you expect, you are still better off getting all of the proper nutrition on this program, since it certainly won't do you any harm. All the best, Bee > > Ok, I think I need to re explain my situation without labels, b/c even when I was on SCD I wasn't eating everything it allowed b/c I knew I shouldn't. I just thought that maybe my small little body is just too overburdened that it just can't heal. > > I'm just looking for answers. Although acceptable short term or occasionally. +++Hi , Corrine and Ed, What you are talking about is not only structural damage but also unhealthy muscles, connective tissues, unhealthy cell membranes, etc. Ed is right that nutrition is very important too. Proper nutrition means changing over all of the body's cell membranes to being constructed out of 50% saturated fat, which takes time. It also means eliminating toxins that make all of the cell membranes rigid/stiff, and that requires proper detoxification too which the body becomes more able to do on this program. Nutrients, hormones, and even water are less able to get into stiff cells where they are needed, and the cells are less able to get rid of their own natural waste products. Hernias are an example of weak muscles, but of course it is different than what you are talking about. My friend had a bad groin hernia and when he stuck to my program he had very little problems with it, not even needing his supportive girdle. When he went off it, he had to wear his girdle. Of course he also needed to stay on the program long enough to actually strengthen his muscles. Many people have had operations to correct structural issues, but if the muscles are weak and unhealthy they won't totally correct the issues. So it is important to get healthy too! Guest guest
Hi Ed, Actually, my former work before becoming a mom was a Corrective Exercise Specialist and Nutrition and lifestyle Coach. I worked a lot with women with back pain, diastasis recti, etc. While the exercises can improve the situation a lot for some women, that is not the case for all. And, typically, it needs to be done much sooner after birth. Trust me, I knew what to do and it still did not work. I also have looser skin and fascia than most. I always have. I'm lean and muscular and look like a 'hard body', but in actuality, I'm quite 'soft'. My fascia is just not tight. SO, the stretch of two babies damaged the muscle and while I got a little closure early on, the laxity in the skin/fascia adds to the issue. My bowels are very visible moving and rolling around under the skin I imagine there is a slight hernia as well, or at least a very thin layer of fascia holding things in. I know more women who were not helped by the exercises than who were. I'm very familiar with the approaches out there and it only works some of the time. > > > > OH MY GOODNESS. Guest guest
Hi Alison, I'm always intregued by your stuggle - having stugggled greatly as a family ourselves and wonder if you should try all those things I suggested for corrine. Do you take the electrolyte drink? Are you very careful of your ratios? Would you consider going on the all meat and fat diet? Have you tried the hcl again recently, I think this hurdle is a crucial one, it was very very big for us but we had to do it so slow. The other thing we do which really helps, but is only possible once you can tolerate lots of fats is just eating twice a day. This gives your digestive system lots of time to process everything so you are not building up a back log of undigested material that the mico organisms then have to come and clean up for you. Those of us battling with severe digestive issues have our work cut out for us, but by golly its worth it! (Don't worry about reacting to the protein in the butter, I'm convinced that as candida sufferes we are having problems with the milk sugar.) > > Hi, I too feel as though the diet is not working as well as it should - my digestion is awful at the moment and has got progressively worse - to the extent that I now have gastroparesis - food sitting in my stomach for hours (last night I ate at around 6pm and my stomach didn't empty until 3am this morning - and all I had was pureed chicken and broccoli with the veg water!!! > > Ali. > > >
Guest guest
Hi Alison, Sorry forgot to sign! Best wishes from(a very tired) ! > > All the best > > > > . > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi again Corrine, well you poor thing, I can so sympathise, it sounds so similar to what our family struggled through! I would be so interested to know what the answers to the questions that I asked.I would be especially interested to hear if you had managed to eat as much fat on scd as you are meant to do on this program and indeed had managed to avoid the sweet veg like squash and carrots - we didn't!! The other thing I didn't have time to discus was the mercury fillings. I wondered had you caught some of the discussion we had recently about toxicity and vaccinations. If you look at my last few messages there should be quite a bit. My daughter was poisoned by PCB's which are also a neurological poison and we tried so many different forms of chelation without any success. I believe that when you are overloaded with internal toxicity you can not cope with any enviromental ones. At her sickest I could not take my daughter into shops or supermarkets, town halls or museums or other people's homes. Her body was so overloaded that she couldn't detoxify at all. FATS are essential in repairing especially the nervous system. Taking your fillings out now (which would release more murcury into your body)when you are still healing would add insult to injury. Sorry not to be able to write more today, but do feel free to ask if I can help further. All the best > > , > > I have actually been thinking that it might be emotional stress that is keeping me this way. > > Corinne > >
Guest guest
Hi Corinne. I have had the same issues myself regarding doing this a long time and not being as far along as I'd like to be myself. I started a candida diet in Feb 09 then went to Gaps in April and then found the intro online in Sept and did that for 11 months with no cheating except for on New Years. Actually it was a 4 day cheat and then been 100 percent since then and switched to Bee's diet in beginning of August. Although, like you, I was pretty much on it already because I wasn't eating fruit or nuts. Just soup all day long pretty much. What has helped me since getting on Bee's diet is adding back in the foods that I thought I was allergic to and adding a little more fat. But I have had my ups and downs since August as well and even today isn't one of my better days. I'm still very sensitive to certain foods and if I eat to much of a certain food it can throw me off for a couple days. But I just wanted to say how important it is to try to decrease the stress load on yourself. I know first hand that stress can cause you to go nowhere. I know when I am not feeling better I have to find out what I'm doing wrong with the program. It might be something as simple as eating too much coconut oil. It took me 6 weeks to figure out I added too much coconut oil to my diet and then I had to decrease it and feel like I have been healing every week since. I know you have been on this diet forever and I feel your pain but you have to take it slow. If you're not feeling well I suggest take a few days off of foods you know you're sensitive to and a few days off of coconut oil until you feel better. Then add back the foods in slowly. I know when I add in too many healing foods at one time it causes my depression to become real bad which stresses me out which causes me to not heal and go backwards. Not feeling good in itself can be stressful. Hopefully my suggestions help. Good Luck, Danny. > > > > > > > > > +++Hi Corinne.
