Guest guest
Jeni, Want to read a good history of psychiatry? Read " Mad in America " by Whitaker or " Psychiatry the Ultimate Betrayal " by Bruce Wiseman. Or " The Men Behind Hitler " don't know the author. After a few of those exposes I wouldn't go near one, all they have are drugs to bury emotions or even spiritual problems. I never heard a case of beer change anyones " imbalances " and thats all mind changing drugs are to me, fancy cases of beer or bottles of whisky. But so much worse for you. I honestly have never observed anyone flourish around psychiatry but the drug companies. I have been locked up in a psych ward for a month way back in the early 80's and I'm the only one I know that made it out. Much Love, Jim Jay Jay, Oh thanks for this. Little Jeni is only 16, having memory problems... (arghhh meds) and indeed naive...but then i dont think most of society have much idea of whats going on. Voted on huh? No-one else find that realy strange? :S Would be amazing to be able to vote out things like AIDS, but i think all that means is ignoring their existence. Homosexuality still exists doesnt it? hmmm...weird. Will ask my psychiatrist, whose current game is to lie to me and see if i notice. Jeni > Jeni, Maybe it will helped to understand that all > DSM-IV mental illness listed are actually voted on. > Homosexuallity was listed as a mental illness in the > DSM-IV book until it received a majority vote to be > excluded as a mental illness. All mental illness's > listed have no cure, until they find that it is caused > by something else, like syphillis, lyme disease, life > choice, etc. Wouldn't it be great if heart disease, or > diabetes could be voted in or out of existance. > Jay ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Jay, It was sad to read your story. All I can say is to be a strong advocate for your child and keep searching for a diagnosis. With the rash suddenly appearing it could be systemic jra. Just keep fighting and keep a diary. Good luck. Guest guest
I guess I should have said this as well...We do see teching students everytime we go, but I also have a regular that comes in everytime after the strudents have assessed him...I would nbot do a teaching hospital any other way. The PED I see is a head pediatrician at UCSD...I only go in because I had connections. I see an Opthomalogist there as well. The studets ocme in and see, but then I have the same Opthamologist that comes in after they do. Yes, it would not be good if I only saw students, but I am not opposed to doing the teaching hopitals becasue they sometimes get new information....especially here in San Diego. Thanks for the information. Jay [a University teaching clinic at UCSD] Jay I have to make a comment on teaching clinic's/hospital's, not saying that they are not good for they do have their purpose. But when it comes to being seen at one, I offer this one bit of advice. INSIST on having your child cared for by the same doctor each and every visit and not by a myriad of rotating residents! (students) If need be demand emphatically, the chief physician of the department always be in attendance. Sorry if this offends anyone! but my experience with learning/teaching facilities tend to use patients as nothing more than, 'lab RATS'.
