Guest guest
- When Caroline was on Ebrel our rule of thumb was to never administer it if she had a fever over 101 or if she was being treated for an infection. I would check with your rheumy, but generally you can restart the Enbrel after the strep clears or the anit-biotics kick in (24-48 hours) Good luck. Sorry to hear about the Strep! Alia and Caroline, age 3, poly and uveitis Strep throat and Enbrel Hi, Our 12 year old son is due his enbrel injection today (Friday) but the quick strep test done last night was positive. Started him on atibiotics last night. I'm getting conflicting info. on if I should give him his injection today. By the way, this will just be is 4th injection. Does anyone have any experience with taking/not taking the enbrel injection while having strep throat? Thanks - _____
Guest guest
, is right now on an antibiotic for bronchitis.. I think that the general belief is that if they have any kind of active infection you need to hold the enbrel. At least that is what her rheumy has us doing for now.. Guest guest
, Check with the rheumy, but my guess is that, at the very least, you'll need to delay the injection. I hope he feels better soon. Liz Strep throat and Enbrel Hi, Our 12 year old son is due his enbrel injection today (Friday) but the quick strep test done last night was positive. Guest guest
-. I skipped Nicks enbrel last week ( 2 shots) as he was on anti- biotics for a sinus infection. I think the reason the rheumy had us hold off though was more because he was running a high fever. I dunno. what did your rheumy say?? Guest guest
, Our son is in the 3 yr safety study for Enbrel at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Center. The principal investigator is Dr. Lovell. The study is funded by the National Instiiute for Health. A serious infection that goes into the literature is one that causes one to be admitted into a hospital. The joy of Enbrel is you have some leeway. You can give half the weekly dose 48-72 hours apart or give the total dose 1x weekly. Our advise from Dr.Lovell was no Enbrel until 24 hours fever free or 24 hours after an antibiotic. My son was SICK,SICK,SICK at first, for about the first year.Turned out his adenoids were chronicly infected, got rid of those and his tonsils and it has been 1 yr since he seen his ped for an actual sick visit. That is way cool and he has only missed 2 days of school this year and only because I have been programed to watch for the unknown terrible to happen.Bad habits are hard to break.
