Guest guest
I have a question for you guys- Nate's labs showed a high BUN level, low creatinine level, and high calcium level. His Neutrophils were low and his Lymphocytes high. He had an ear infection when we went in- but has also complained that his back hurts. When I ask him where he points to the small of his back. The rhuemy called me before I got my copy of the labs and said they looked good. His sed, platelets , wbc, etc are all good and his other chemistry was fine. Does the Naprosyn cause kidney problems? He is off that and now on Indocin. Is that a problem for his kidneys? His only other unusual symptoms are enlarged lymph nodes in his neck, esp. the right side. He has had those enlarged for 6 months. Any ideas?? I think I might call the rheumy back and ask. Guest guest
Hi Dawn, I just looked at Hunter's last lab results and there were 9 " nasty little asterisks " -- and he has his drawn at a pediatric lab, which means they are real asterisks and not based on adult lab levels. He's fine and nothing is a problem. Don't try to overly micro- manage the little asterisks. If you have any questions, you must call your rheumy because they see the bigger picture of the significance or lack thereof for each asterisk. Some asterisks will be there because of certain meds., colds, or numerous other things going on in a growing child. Generally, the ibuprofen/advil/motrin/aleve NSAIDS can affect the kidneys. I don't know specifically how or what to look for. On the other hand, Tylenol affects the liver. I try to stay away of that because Hunter's on mtx. I don't know what Indocin does. Swollen lymph nodes are a part of systemic JRA. Call or email your rheumy and I'm sure he'll answer anything more specific you have. Stacia and Hunter 8 systemic, iritis
Guest guest
-Try pushing more water.... Nick had high BUN levels at one time and we were told that he needed to drink more water... He now has a water bottle at his desk at school and his BUN levels are fine. If Nate is on MTX ( I cant remember, sorry) you also need to drink more water...
