I'm so excited guys! We gave nne her first dose of MTX on Friday

night (thanks for your responses everyone, it was really helpful and

reassuring) and 2 mornings later (Sunday morning) she did NOT limp

when she got up!!! First time in 2 months that's happened. I think

her ankle is less swollen, not back to normal, but better. And

tonight as I tucked her in bed I kissed her ankle and it was not

hot!!! That dang ankle has felt hot for weeks, and tonight it's the

same temperature as the rest of her!!!

Happy dance, happy dance!!!

How could it work so fast? The rhumy told me it may take weeks before

we saw any difference, or he said it could be right away too, but

that was pretty rare. Dang, maybe we lucked out on this one!!!

May all your children do as well too, here, I send you all my good

vibes!!!

Annie,

Never heard of MTX working that quick but take what you can get.My son has

surprised me.He restarted MTX and got his 3rd dose over the weekend but I swear

he responded to the second dose and we weren't expecting anything until around

week 6.

Whatever the reason I am very happy for you and nne that the swelling is

going down.If it is indeed the MTX working the benefits will continue to

increase for around 8 weeks then level off.

Maybe I rejoiced too soon. Her ankle was burning hot again this

morning and she limped around a bit, not for long, but still... Well,

at least it means the MTX is having an effect, not a miraculous

effect, but I'll take something over nothing.

You know last night I had this hope that she might be able to take a

ski class like she's been wanting to. I didn't let her do it last

winter because I thought she was too young, and this winter she may

not be able too because putting her ankle in a ski boot would hurt

too much. We live 1/2 hour away from the Sundance Ski Resort so it's

pretty cheap for us. Isn't that a shame?

Oh, what I am complaining about, she's fine all things considered...!

Take care everyone!

Anne - I hope that it is working that quick for your daughter. Be watchful

of other joints becoming inflamed. With our daughter the inflammation seemed

to travel. One week it was her ankles and the her wrist the next week. Hope

this is not the case for your daughter. I was glad to read how happy you

were. I have learned to cherish those moment. Sandi Ken Hunter 6 Systemic.

Annie,

Your topic of skiing peaked my interest...

Hunter was at his worst and just starting mtx in late Aug. '03. As

he was scraming in pain every morning and night for two months

before the mtx. kicked in some, all he ever asked for was to have

JRA gone by the beginning of ski season. In fact, that is really

the only tangible thing he talked about relating to JRA. We too

live extremely close to skiing and it would have killed him (and the

whole family, of course) to sit out a season. Well, by late Oct.,

the mtx started working at about 50-75%, depending on the day. He

was able to ski all season. In the beginning, he may have had to

start some days with heating pads for a couple hours, but by mid-

morning, he was fine and able to ski the rest of the day. (By the

way, his JRA was in his ankles, knees, hips, wrists and elbows).

I hope nne gets the mtx to kick the JRA quickly, and certainly

in time for ski season. We'd love to see her on the slopes here in

Idaho!!!
