Guest guest
I don't have any brand recommendations for you, but I would probably stick with a jogging stroller. They usually go higher in weight and are relatively easy to manuever. >From: " jolimont_2000 " <jolimont@...> >Reply- > >Subject: Recommendations for an oversized stroller? >Date: Fri, 10 Dec 2004 23:11:41 -0000 > > >nne has been doing quite well on the Methotraxate, much less >swelling, less pain, not back to normal, but much better. > >She still has a hard time walking very far so I'm thinking we'll need >a stroller or wheelchair for our upcoming Disney World vacation. Guest guest
Hi Annie, I am so sorry it has come to this but have been there and done that.Look up Pogon Buggy. We bought one in 2002 at around $300 and it holds up to 100 lbs and is lightweight, turns on a dime and folds up just like a unbrella stroller and probebly weighs no more then 8 lbs.It is desighned for the mildest of handicaped children which is perfect for those days when walking just isn't an option. No sales tax or shipping was a plus. The idea though is to not need one at all so please call the rheumy or tell them at the next visit that you need assistance and the treatment needs to be more aggressive. Our Pogon buggy was only used about 3 times before it made it's way to the attic. Hugs Becki and 6systemic
Guest guest
I had that exact thought when first was diagnosed. We got him a jogging stroller that carries up to 75 lbs. They do have them that carry up to 100 lbs. With at 54 lbs currently, I'm thinking we should have gone ahead with one of the higher weight rated ones. I understand completely wanting a stroller instead of a wheelchair. My other thought on that matter is that he doesn't always use it. I can only imagine the looks some people would give to me pushing a wheelchair with him trotting along beside it, even when he's limping. http://www.joggingstroller.com/ has a geat comparison chart to choose between the different brands for features you will need. Things we found important were weight- bearing capability, cost, and folded size. The one we got has wheels we can take off so it fits into the trunk of our car. There are many other features listed and compared on the site. Some of them I didn't even think of, like whether the seat reclines or not. One thing we didn't look into and probably should have is the set of the foot rest. 's legs are getting a bit long for the stroller and it's not adjustable.
