Hi Alia,

Holly has always been " more " immune supressed then most on mtx, it just

whomps her body hard. Holly was very little when we atarted these drugs as

well, she was 9 months at diagnosis and had started mtx by 18 months, she had

been on many other drugs before the mtx, prednisone always....it makes

everything harder to solve as a lot of times there are no clear answers we are

going

through that right now with her. She feels like garbage.....and no clear

reason why

Hey Becki. I have run all those same questions through my mind the last few

months. For whatever reason, this triple combination (Prednisone,

Methotrexate, Enbrel) is really potent for Caroline. She obviously has a

weakened immune system. That coupled with three immune suppressant

medications is just a hard hit on her body. Being so young probably has

something to do with it also. She'll be three at the end of this month, not

that it should make a big difference, but I am hoping it will.

Hopefully her doctors can figure something out soon....

HFM disease ran rampant through s preschool class at age 3.Luckily he

only went 2 days a week for 4 hours and didn't catch it.His little friend

,also systemic was full time and did catch it.Vanderbilts infectious

disease

doctors were called in because she was differant then the

others,presentation

wise,I guess.

I don't mean to hurt you but Enbrel realy isn't the problem,most

likely.Caroline is 2 yrs old and is on too high of a dose of Enbrel and

MTX.Both doses

need to be lowered and a 3rd drug added.Sounds awful but it's called triple

combination DMARD therapy.You have heard s story and thats what it took

for

him.I do realize that Carolines immune system is low due to her age,she

hasn't

been exposed to this and that at day care.So recanting my statement, Enbrel

may

not be right at this time.

It just breaks my heart.I remember how well she felt at AJAO and just took

off through the crowd to shake her booty on stage.I wonder how many people

took

pics of her.

Your just in a realy hard time right now.Weak immune system due to age and

doubly so because of the JRA.
