Guest guest
Hi Coleen, Its Becki again.Sounds like your rheumy could get the Thaladomide if needed. How did you like Dr.Lovell with your phone conversation? We are still thinking about swithching the 45 minute drive to Vanderbilt in Nashville to the 5-6 hour drive to Cincy,to see Lovell. The website says he does clinic but every time we go for the 3yr Enbrel safety study s his only patient for the day.We just love him and the whole falculty. It's cool,if you go to their rheumatoligy home paige s photo is on the rt and the link takes you to their first rheumatoligy " change the outcome " story. You can now actualy Google Larson and he pops up around #6-7. I hope Caitlen has a good Christmas and can enjoy it pain free. Hugs Becki and 6 systemic
Guest guest
Hi Colleen and all, We were with our rheumy today and at the end we were having general chat and he mentioned that he just got contacted by the MRA study folks. Of course I started asking questions and he didn't have any of the answers because he had just gotten the message. But it looks like his practice will be gearing up for the pediatric part of the study. I asked him what the ideal candidate would look like and I was thinking it would be kids who have failed everything else, and his response off the cuff was that he would be thinking more of his mtx. kids (and gave me " the look " like he had us in mind, but I didn't bite at his look). He also has a quirky sense of humor and could have been kidding. Anyway, I thought you might find it interesting that doctors are preparing for the study. You probably already knew that. Also, of course when he mentioned the MRA study, I immediately thought of you. I mentioned that Caitlin had tried " everything " and each treatment seemed to work a little initially, but then went downhill rather quickly. (that may be overstating things for you, but it was casual talk). He asked if Caitlin had ever done thalidamide, and referenced the recent article just published by Dr. Tom Lehman, in NYC. Just in case you hadn't tried it, I wanted to make sure you had the info. on thalidamide. Then I see that Georgina just posted the excerpt of the article. I haven't read many posts since last Wed., but that one did catch my eye. Let me know if you've already given thalidamide a good try.
