A Heart That Dances Teaches Lessons

Dance With Your Heart: Tales and Poems That the Heart Tells, the latest

book from child prodigy Shirley Cheng, is filled with inspirations,

lessons and magic. Be prepared to be touched, taught, and tickled by the

stories and poems contained between the covers of Dance With Your Heart.

In Dance With Your Heart, the reader will discover and visit worlds

never before visited. Inch alongside a tiny snail as she goes through a

journey of self-discovery in The Gift of Uniqueness, and learn that

cooperation is the key to working successfully, yielding desirable

fruits in the story, The Raging Sun and Rain. The poems, which range

from thought-provoking to inspirational, could only have been written by

Shirley Cheng. Her language is simple, yet lyrical, and she writes with

sincerity, clarity, and wisdom rare for her youth.

Most of the stories take only a few minutes to read; yet from Shirley's

words - from her poems and her stories - you'll feel the full spectrum

of emotions. You'll laugh, you'll weep; and when you close the book for

the last time, you will do so a changed person, so prepare yourself to

take flight.

Shirley was born in New York in 1983, and received no schooling until

she was eleven years old. Having achieved grade level in all areas after

only 180 days in a special education class in elementary school, she was

transferred to a regular sixth grade class in middle school. Shirley

quickly developed a voracious appetite for reading, at times reading as

many as three books a day, and a passion for writing prose and poetry.

One of her stories, , the Elusive Lady, was published by

Poughkeepsie Journal in 1997, and her poem, The Colors of the Rainbow,

was published in the anthology Celebrate! New York's Young Poets Speak

Out in 1999. Shirley lost her eyesight at the age of seventeen, and

hopes to earn science doctorates from Harvard University after a

successful eye surgery.

She is also the author of Daring Quests of Mystics, published at age

twenty, and The Revelation of a Star's Endless Shine: A Young Woman's

Autobiography of a 20-Year Tale of Trials and Tribulation, her own life

story - a quest to overcome blindness, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis,

and to triumph over tremendous adversities.
