Guest guest
Hi,. Just jumping in real quick to let you know, has real good success with keeping mouth sores away by also, besides the folic acid, rinsing every day once or twice with Listerine. Hope this idea can help. With the different flavors, it is much easier to take. Michele ( 17, pauci & spondy) Folic acid and mouth sores Helen, you said in your last post - Hes now upto 3mg of folic acid a day as 2mg just was not keeping the mouth sores at bay, but so far so good with 3mg. - Are you saying that folic acid can get rid of mouth sores? Liam has them so bad in his mouth all of the time and all his doctor ever told him to do is have a Cepacol (Chloraseptic, that kind of thing) to numb it. But it doesn't help because he can't take it before he eats, otherwise his mouth is numb and he chokes on his food and it " goes down the wrong pipe " . So it's an extremely temporary relief. Any info would be helpful, thanks. I'm so glad that Nick is accepting the shots well. It must be hard enough to have to handle shots without having to worry about them being scared or hurt. Good luck baking!
Guest guest
Hi Nick has had a big problem with canker sores caused by the methotrexate as his doses have been increased over the last 10 months. When he was on lower doses (ie 10mg) he didnt have a problem and 1mg was enough. Now hes upto 20mg and once we started that dose the mouth sores were awful. He had one huge one that was at the bottom of his front teeth, under the lip that ran from one side of his mouth to the other. I would talk to your rhuemy about increasing the folic acid.... Another thing Nicks rhuemy said to try was to mix equal amounts of liquid benadryl and maloxx and have them swish with it. This helped Nick a little too when his sores were at their worse. Since weve been at 3mg of folic acid hes not had another canker sore ( touch wood) Hugs Helen and (7,systemic) > > Helen, you said in your last post - Hes now upto 3mg of folic acid a day as > 2mg > just was not keeping the mouth sores at bay, but so far so good with > 3mg. - Are you saying that folic acid can get rid of mouth sores? Guest guest
Thanks, Helen, for the liquid benadryl and maloxx advice. Between that and the Listerine, I'm praying that relief is on the way! - " Another thing Nicks rhuemy said to try was to mix equal amounts of liquid benadryl and maloxx and have them swish with it. Guest guest
Hi I thought I would just mention a suggestion that one of my co-workers offered. She got RA when she was 22 and took MTX for 6 years before it no longer worked and the side effects became to much. But she said that she would always eat a yogurt before bed and kind of swish it around the sides of her mouth. Apparently the live cultures helped with the mouth sores. I guess it couldn't hurt to try. Best of luck, (Drea 9 systemic) - In , <jt102493@o...> wrote: > Thanks, Helen, for the liquid benadryl and maloxx advice.
